Since this modestly-budgeted non-Hollywood production sounds like it'll be something on par with a "SyFy Original" TV movie, I frankly wouldn't mind if they did use a reality TV show to cast some unknown Singapore beauties as eye candy.
Exotic eye candy would increase my likelihood of seeing it in theatres, assuming that it doesn't go straight-to-video in North America. |

The movie has a higher budget than Natural City and Returner combined. (Double if I'm remembering them correctly, they were $8 mil USD and $6 mil USD, IIRC.) So, it's on par with any major Asian blockbuster, and way more expensive than most. |

Amen to that. The unmitigated suckiness of 2040 made me appreciate how great the original series was. The franchise was redeemed by Parasite Dolls though. Overall, I am not optimistic about a live-action BGC adaptation, especially if it involves a bunch of cheesy special effects and bad casting. I can just imagine Miley Cyrus and Robert Pattinson as Priss and Leon respectively. |

I didn't think Tokyo 2040 was that bad. It at least had a complete narrative. It wasn't as fun as the original BGC, but it was somewhat enjoyable. To me, it's one of those shows I would never place on a "favorites" list, but it's one I would rewatch (and do).
