So, is finding the Fushigi Yuugi boxsets a lost cause?

I've checked around and they're insanely expensive/rare. Does the show have any hope for getting a re-release? Or maybe I haven't checked somewhere that might be selling them?

Any suggestions at all?

Best bet is to check the FYEs or Coconuts locally. I was in FYE today and saw the first boxset for $50. I might have to pick that up the next time I'm over there... I just checked and they're going for double that used. But places like FYE are a goldmine for OOP anime. Things'll just sit there forever, not selling.

Did you try Right Stuf? They usually have a really cheap area for older shows. Of course they might sell the individual DVDs of that show for a lot less than the entire boxed set goes for. I did that for Strawberry Marshmallow. Ended up paying about $21 for the individual DVDs, and the boxed set was like $35.

RightStuf is basically sold out. There are a few stray volumes left in stock... but it is slim pickin's.

You should hold out a couple days. FUNi might pull a license announcement for it out of their ass...
