Howdy

I notice that the "a Certain scientific railgun" manga has been licenced and is due to be released (by seven seas IIRC) i was under the impression that its a side story to "a certain magical index" so would it not make sense to release index first or are they connected but both stand alone?

I've not watched alot of the anime for both the shows so i only know some of the basics for it and a few of the characters for both.

It's actually sorta both, if its like the anime at all. Railgun can definitely stand alone as its own series, though there are gonna be a few things you don't understand unless you've also seen Index.

hmm like when i first saw an episode of railgun i hadnt seen any of index so i didn't know why biribiri was chasing touma around. But i heard somwhere that railgun is set slightly before index but index came first.

See im kinda lost here, seven seas putting railgun out over index seems to support that but i could just be that mabye railgun is more popular than index mabye.

Railgun is indeed more popular than Index (the Japanese sales numbers even prove it). It's also quite a fun book in and of itself. Lots of comedy, action, and even some yuri fan service.

But there is an easier explanation for why we're getting Railgun in print first...
Index is a series of light novels and those would never, ever sell here as they're too niche. There is an Index manga, but Square Enix puts it out and Yen Press has dibs on all their books.

aaaah cheers matey thats helped clear it all up some. I'll grab railgun and hope for index to be picked up by yen press then (people complain they're slow but i personally relish the extra time to buy other books Razz)

That explains many things. Never knew they had first dibs on Square Enix stuff.
