Hi! I am pretty new to anime and blablabla, so I wondered if any kind person could recommend some anime movies or series.
I am searching for somewhat violent and modern anime, like Ghost in the Shell. I already know about GitS Stand-Alone Complex. Oh, and when I say modern, I mean anime where the story takes place in modern / futuristic times, and not that the anime itself necessarily has to be new. Thanks in advance!

Well dont look any further than Elfen Lied and Gantz.
And when I mean they are violent I mean they are VIOLENT. V-I-O-L-E-N-T with a capital V. Limbs flying around, a litteral sea of blood and many other juicy scenes you will surely enjoy

Don't forget about Fist of the North Star, being the mother of all violent anime that it is. Akira is up there, naturally. Evangelion has its bloody violent moments, but those are largely eclipsed by the heavy psychological edge the anime has. The Blue Gender movie is more or less a blood and gore fest, but Funimation’s release is annoyingly dub-titled. Many make the mistake of taking Alien 9 to be a kid’s show, but it too is considerably violent (although I’d suggest you check it out more for its story telling than anything else). Megazone 23 Part II has some scenes of bloody dismemberment. Vampire Hunter D is fairly graphic, and you might also look for Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (Bloodlust is much milder than the original, but is notably better in most every aspect to the original).

I suggest all the titles mentioned above except GANTS because I haven't seen it yet. I also reccomend the Devil Man OVA. If you want to see boobs getting ripped off, people shreaded in to peices, and an ocasional sea of blood from a rampage of killing, the devil man OVA is for you! Not to mention the killer sound track!

I think Hellsing is kinda violent well to that is only cause it is all bloddly and stuff well i am only 11 my brother is 17 so i sometime watch it.

I found the violence in Hellsing to be rather muted, personally.
...especially by comparison to the manga. |

and there is of course berserk...does not really take place in futuristic times....but many people love the story. Personally i did not find it so interesting...but if you want to give it a go....its got enough blood and violence....

Berserk anime wasnt all the violent compared to its manga counterpart. Damn censorship!

Just look up anything released by Go Nagai within the past decade.
You might like Getter Robo Armageddon since there's body-crushing in the Opening Animation. |

Hmmm...... I really don't know. Texhnolyze perhaps? but I think it's more on blood and gore (especially the uncut versions shown on Animax Asia).

Then choose Hellsing! It's a great anime, even though it's short. But it HAS been confirmed that Geneon are working on a new series that follows the manga. WOOT! It's somewhat violent and modern. Good mixture og guns and the usual way of killing too.

For Non stop Violence Look No Further Than Elfen Lied, Also Try HellSing As so many other people has Suggested. Neon Genisis Evangelion Is some What Violent. Especially The End Of Evangelion.
