BTW, Is there FY novels? I've only seen Fushigi Yuugi and Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden. Nothing about the novelization of Fushigi Yuugi. Last edited by Ataru on Fri Feb 10, 2006 12:33 am; edited 1 time in total |

I suppose it's possible that they may publish the FY novels, but I'm not about to hold my breath. Really the best thing we can do is express an interest in seeing them published, and to do so through proper channels (reply cards, emails, print letters).
The FY novels do have illustrations by Yu Watase, though. Even though they aren't written by her. But they're just illustrations every now and then. ~Shadrach Anki |

In the sections where Yu Watase writes to the fans (us), in the FY graphics I think that she mentions NOVELS(!) I know that there are novels about Ceres because she mentions that Aya's and Toya's child is older and that Toya's still alive.
If this is true that novels are going to be released, I will so be buying them. Speaking of Yu Watase, does anyone know if Alice 19th is or will be an anime? Didn't see anything to that affect on the ANN Encyclopedia but since they can't keep up with EVERYTHING 24/7, thought I'd ask. |

Well, I haven't heard anything about an Alice 19th anime, so I'd have to say that it's doubtful that there is one at the moment. However, given the popularity of Fushigi Yugi and Ayashi no Ceres I wouldn't necessarily rule out the possibility that a series will be published in the future. Of course, at the same time I'd have to say that it may be more likely that Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden will get an anime before Alice 19th will since there is already a large established fanbase in both countries. Still, all of this is speculation. I'd like for there to be an anime for Alice...I'd also like an animated version of Imadoki! to be made. Dreams are good things to have, after all. ^_^ ~Shadrach Anki |

I've heard rumors of the Fushigi Yuugi novels possibly being translated. The novels themselves are almost entirely backstory for the characters, at least from what I can gather (and apparently the twins have quite the Mary Sue in theirs...oh well)...I believe Yui's is set during the main story, but is mostly flashbacks. I don't really know much about the others, though I'm sure there is information out there.
I'd love to see Alice animated, Imadoki too. Especially considering they are short enough that they might be able to get an art budget and thus actually do justice to the original manga (Fushigi Yuugi and Ceres both have some really sketchy parts to them, animation-wise). They would make very nice 13 episode serieses. I expect that Genbu Kaiden will get animated, since it is a prequel to a quite popular series, but with Watase manga they seem to like to wait until it's nearing the end before starting an anime, which I REALLY like, since it means the manga and the anime can follow the same storyline, more or less (the adaptation of Fushigi Yuugi never ceases to impress me with how close it is). I would expect that Viz probably would wait to get all of the FY manga out first though (which isn't much, they only have one more volume until they are done), then we'll see if they do any more. |
