Does anyone know if the Renewal of Evangelion dvds are coming to R1 dvd? I only have a few of the dvds and I'm not sure if I should get the boxset ADV has out or wait for the Renewal dvds.

ADV bought the rights. Which says nothing about it actually being produced anytime soon.
I hope they do come, but then I feel bad about having the normal series. Oh well. I can sell it on ebay or to some friends.

Same here. I'm willing to wait and see if ADV will rerelease Eva in it's ultra-complete form (i.e. the "new" Japanese version with extras). In the mean time, I still have my 13-tape VHS set to tide me over until they do. One reason I didn't want to get the current DVDs is because I heard all these stories about how the first disc was messed up with their idiotic overlaying of titles. I hope that if they do redo Eva with the "new" version, they'll follow what RightStuf did with KareKano or Brocolli with FLCL in terms of subtitling text. But I suppose this is all wishful thinking on my part.

The overlays were removed from the first disc when ADV released the boxset. The new dvd has a bigger picture of Shinji than the original release did.

If ADV does release Renewal, then it would probably be just the tv epiosdes and the bonus disc, since Manga has the rights to the movies.

The Renewal boxset will probably come out when the live action movies is in theaters, to take advantage of all the hype and probaly get some new fans in the process.

More likely before just to keep the property from getting stale.

Hmm... that's good to know. Did they also fix the ending sequences too? I read someplace that they mixed up certain sequences where one ending was supposed to be black and white with pink text and another was supposed to be with red text or something, but ADV used the same one for the DVD release (but had it right for the VHS release). I distinctly remember those odd changes since I have the tapes and they sorta added to the feel of the episode. It'd be kinda lame if they didn't fix that.
