Anime Not As Fun As It Used To Be?

I find myself to be losing interest in Anime. Last really entertaining ones were Genshiken, GTO, and Twelve Kingdoms. But now I find myself bored after watching stuff like Vandread.

I remember the joy I had watching Tenchi, Ah My Goddess, and Here is Greenwood. It kinda seems like I've watched all the good ones. I'm a big time Shouju fan but there doesn't seem to be many good ones left. So basically I'm crying out for something to give me the warm fuzzy tingly feeling when I first got into anime. Give me some reccomendations.

I find it easier to make a post about the type of anime I like. Than having people who like the same kind tell me. If you don't like it don't reply.

Try Utawarerumono. It's not shoujo, but it certainly leaves that warm fuzzy tingly feeling.

This series has something for everyone. It's got plenty of peaceful and relaxing scenes, and action packed fights and battles as well. The characters all act in very believable ways, and you can't help but feel like supporting the new country where the series takes place in it's endeavor to shape itself up and attain peace by strengthening bonds and warding off invading enemies. Many times, it gave me that tingly feeling of excitement reminescent of Twelve Kingdoms, as you can't help but admire the new emperor of this country and how he has become such a strong-willed and kindhearted, yet he is tactical and intellegent as well. The beginning starts out somewhat slow, but moves at a lightning fast pace full of twists, turns, excitement, foreshadowing, energetic and fun characters, all with great animation and music to come with it.

I have to say, I went through the same phase as you did. After watching GTO, I watched series like Bakuretsu Tenshi, Kiddy Grade, and Ai Yori Aoshi, and believed that I had either finished every single enjoyable series out there already (or was just bored of anime altogether). Then the Spring 2006 season came. Ah, there's so much good stuff out there.

Camelot was trying to help when you go to that first link it shows you how to set up a recommendation thread. If you don't follow those simply rules your topic gets locked, so read it before you thread becomes locked.

Also I say try Last Exile a great story that also has some really good animation in it. It's one of the gems that Gonzo made a couple years back. The boxset can be found for a decent price now also....

Goodness, talk about old stuff (save for Genshiken.) It would help if you told us what recent you are actually watching since Vandread is about as fresh and new as the Backstreet Boys.

If Shoujo/romance/harem/slice-of-life is your thing, check out Ouran Host Club, Honey & Clover, Mai-Hime, Azumanga, Ichigo Mashimaro, Hantsuki, Midory days, Haruhi Suzumiya... well its a mighty long list since I did not pick up much of a pattern to your tastes from your posts.

Honestly tho, the past few seasons in anime have had so much awsome its not even funny. Look around and you are bound to find something.

While your opener isn't as inane as some others, it's still a tad on the uninformative side. You say you like shoujo, so that's guideline #2 out of the way. Now follow #1 to give us an idea of what's under your belt, or try adhering to #3 and giving examples of other shoujo titles you like.

In case you missed the link in camelot's post, here it is again. Read it, try to follow at least two of the first three guidelines, then copy whatever you need and repost when you're ready. It'll make things a little easier for everyone else. Thanks.
