could be from too much dragon ball z abridged, but goku when it comes down to it is kinda neglectful as a parent. piccolo spends more time with gohan.
akio furukawa. the person who neglected his daughter for years and refused to take responsibility of her; letting others look after her thinking that he can't do it.
what about the main character of dn angles dad (been awhile can't remember names)? he gave his son a charm that transferred all physical damage to himself. and it went through that until his son found out near the end. and at no point he regretted it or showed that it hurt. that's a caring father
sometimes, fans confuse me

Well, I was disappointed by the results, but not the forum comments; welcome to ANN!

I can understand Americans saying Goku but as far as Japan goes, why would you want a dad who sounds like he could be your grandmother?!

I do think Kirito would be a nice daddy~
(everyone who watched the series saw how he treated Yui so it's not really hard to imagine him having real childrens and treating them well)
about the others? no idea, can't comment (I don't even know most of them tbh)
PD: lol'd at the appearance of Levi in the female poll (as much as I like the interpretation of Levi as a dad I don't think I would stand to have such a cleaning maniac as one of my parents lol)

Maybe because of genetics. If he was the dad, the kid would be a demon too with awesome demon cutlery powers.

Let's see... If Kirito were my dad...
Best case: He would teach me "Being Awesome 101".
Worst case: My gf would fall for him.

I feel really bad that I lol'd.
Seriously though, these are some godawful choices. Kirito? Goku? Inuyasha? Luffy of all people? I mean I love Luffy to death, but he'd wind up trading his kid for a big hunk o' meat without blinking an eye. And the lack of Maes Hughes is an absolute crime.

Ah, Goku isn't so bad a father. He shouldn't be on any lists of best dads, but he definitely loves his sons, and in his defense, a lot of times he's just plain dead, so it's hard for him to spend quality time with them.
He's at least a better father than he is a husband.

Weird list, but I totally agree with Akio and Minato! YES!
Um... I'm going to assume that Goku is there because people like his stupidity. And he does protect those he cares about.

Actually, that's the first that comes to mind for me. He does a fantastic job trying to help his kids deal with a very difficult and scary situation and still have a real childhood while also dealing with his own feelings about his wife's illness.
I find Sebastian's inclusion rather disturbing to say the least.
