The side-stories have been fun, but once the main series ended the way it did it wasn't surprising that the spin-off wouldn't gain much traction even with its fans.

I'm wondering when they'll release the tankoubon version.

Didn't even know this existed. Hope it gives more of a proper conclusion, though I doubt it.

I don't think that popularity was a deciding factor. I recall back in last June reading somewhere from a fairly reliable guy that it was planned to be 6 chapters long. The cited source was a tweet from Manganewsjapan, but because I was never able to find the tweet in question, I never really brought it up much.

If the side-stories were well received, Ryuuhei Tamura might have been persuaded to change his mind regarding the original number of chapters planned. As it stands, it looks like he's following through on the original plan so probably a case of closing the series and starting on something fresh.

As to the content, they really are side-stories. Nothing earth-shattering regarding a new conclusive ending from the 5 chapters I've seen thus far.

I actually forgot about the side-story after reading the first 4, well I'm looking forward to his new work. Although the ending for beelzebub was kinda weak.

Even if I hear that Ryuhei planned for the ending of Beelzebub to out that way....sorry man, I love that manga but that ending was just lame...

I did like the side stories and I'll keep and eye out for anything he does next, if it's that Tiger Dragon Brothers oneshot that he's planning on doing next I'd hope that at the very least he change the brother's initial design because they look TOO much like Oga and Furuichi with black hairspoiler[and when one of them turns into a girl he literally looks like hilda with her hair parted]
