Meanwhile, Omega got 90-something episodes. Damn it Toei, at least make something decent out of this toy commercial. I hoped for at least two-cours seeing how the first episode took so long in setting the story into motion

Noooo!!! Only 13 episodes? I was hoping at least for 26 eps
but anyway, i think the first episode was good, I hated the animation, but otherwise it was good. Far better in my opinion then many other animes currently running. I had enough of school-girls, magical girls, panties and boobs animes. This was at least a decent one. |

Hilariously in the Saint Seiya fangroup I'm part of, Deathmask is currently the most popular character based solely off of the five second shot of him from episode 1. I'm crossing my fingers that we *won't* get a short stick for them; judging by the preview for the second ep, I think they're going to be teaming up the characters rather than giving them one episode each. The animation director worked on Lost Canvas, too - maybe we'll see some Manigoldo/Albafica influence. Also, Bandai indicated that there was the potential for additional episodes after the first 13 if the God Cloths sell well. Pre-orders for Leo Aiolia's JP release are already sold out so... we'll see. |

Well 13 eps of Saint Seiya which is actually linked to the original timeline of the story is better than no Saint Seiya anime at all. Of course, there is always a chance for 2nd season (like Lost Canvas).

While it's undeniable the budget is low for this particular itineration, the franchise rarely had a decent budget to begin with. From the top of my head, I only remember Lost Canvas and the Tenkai-hen movie as good looking.
Having said this, I can't believe there's anyone in this world who liked the original and thought Omega was anything but garbage. This is much better, regardless if it's a faint praise or not. |
