When I read that the Sanrio characters were going to be involved, I was really hoping that Badtz Maru was going to profess his love to Kitty's boyfriend, Daniel. I feel so let down by this news.

Kind of a good example of how gay is thought of as a genre but not as an actual, real-life thing in Japan. Assuming the novel is worksafe and doesn't contain any Unfortunate Implications, this is actually rather progressive. Of course I don't know anything about the novel itself. So I can't really make a true judgement.

$57 to see some guys read a book? What!? Also, seeing it's Yaoi instantly put Gilbert Gottfried reading 50 Shades in my head. Now him reading it I'd pay to see.

You know what I'd pay to see a reading of a Show by Rock yuri or yaoi doujin either one will do.

Nitpick: this is not a yaoi novel. It's a BL novel. Yaoi is fanmade M/M material based on original works, BL is the original stuff. So there's no such thing as yaoi manga, for example; just yaoi doujinshi.

But doujinshi just means self-published print work. Just because a manga is published outside of the industry doesn't make it not manga (which is just comics) |

It'd have to be pretty tame if they're letting 2 year old kids come in and not have any complaints. At least... I hope it's tame. Then again, being tame certainly didn't stop parents from complaining when Sesame Street had that live action segment with the lesbian couple.

I believe that Japanese mainly use BL for these type of comics (I don't know know when they actually use "yaoi"). I believe yaoi is used more by Western fans..

Really? I mean really?? What possible advantage could this have for a company like Sanrio? One good thing about this is whatever nutbar parent what brings their up to 2 year old in, that child won't have a clue what's going on nor remember it.
