Not gonna lie, Cute girls with fighting robots should always be a good selling formula when done right.

I would be totally thrilled to play Girls Mission! Smile Sadly, however, I don't see this title ever reaching the U.S. anytime soon.

I find it sad that this is the game that's making me seriously consider getting a Japanese 3DS.

It's kind of weird, isn't it? In Japan, and among fans of Japanese media, a game like this is undoubtedly targeted primarily at young males. If this was released in the west, it'd be thoroughly aimed at girls.

Nothing wrong with that, of course. Just that it'd look strange to onlookers, at least in North America, to play a game with an all-female cast. Maybe such people would look like that periphery demographic of guys who are into Totally Spies! or Monster High.

If they think they're getting kids into this, then they are making a huge mistake, this is a game for the Otaku mainly male but I'm pretty sure it can enjoyed well by a female Otaku especially if it's girly enough or they like moe.

It's not brown and gray, it doesn't have a realistic art style, and it's not based off an animated sitcom. To onlookers, those visual attributes, plus the fact that it's about young people training little entities for combat (and thus would create immediate association with Pokémon, if they don't mistake it for Pokémon), would give off the "for kids" vibe.
