Good. I hope this means CR will get it. But even if it, like Matoi the Sacred Slayer, gets relegated to the Anime Network, at least that means I still get access to a timely subbed version. And sorry, Anme Network, it ain't through you. I have subscriptions to Netflix, Funimation and CR. That's all there is in the budget.

Matoi is the only fall Sentai title (besides the just-announced Long Riders) that can't be watched on Crunchyroll. Though as the article states, Long Riders is on Daisuki, and it can be watched free there. |

Obviously sentai was destined to license the spiritual successor to the mighty Bakuon! I know there not related, but the synopsis and release time gaps are coincidental.

I just want CR to go away and at this point, I'm giving money to anyone but them. There's one true source for anime and it's called "the internet" not Crunchyroll though they really want them to be the same in everyone's minds. I don't want to see the state of things when they get to dictate conditions to both sides of the Pacific. CR's already demolished Funimation and recreated them into their shadow but they have backed away from Sentai, actually allowing them to run things on time rather than having them wait four weeks. How generous of them. Also, I'm officially looking into Daisuki now though I really love the Anime Network player which I never thought would be the case. The only thing I don't like about it is each first episode is free so they don't actually queue normally. Bakuon was good but I don't really see these girls as college age. Why wasn't Bakuon set at college instead of this one, that would have made more sense? |

@ Animegomaniac - as usual, I really have no idea what point you are trying to make. I mean, I get the general gist that you don't like CR, but your reasons sound garbled to me. Normally, I believe in competition, but when it comes to streaming anime legitimately, I see no benefit to me as a consumer of having half a dozen or more sites divvy up the titles - each with its own subscription fee, natch. This is one instance where I like one stop shopping and CR is getting dangerously close to being that destination. I'm not really sure how this is a bad thing.

^ I am of the idea that Crunchyroll controlling most of the licenses and legal streaming can be a great thing for both fans and other R1 anime companies. Like Blood- says a one stop shop for all streaming anime is great for fans. And in addition to partnering up with Funimation for dubbing and physical distribution, Crunchyroll could also partner up with Sentai, Discotek, NISA and Nozomi for physical distribution and more dubbing opportunities.

It really depends on if you consider having a monopoly a good thing. A one-stop-shop might be good for some people, others might not fair so lucky if a case like that happens. When garbage like this happens, I don't really seeing them having a monopoly being a good thing. Note how nothing's come out of the above, either for any other countries who have a worse currency at the moment or at the time, or any attempts at reverting it. |

Hm, an off topic tangent on people stroking CR's totem pole. Oh well, don't need the mods for this. *rolls up sleeves*
Less competition means little evolution. And crunchyroll will stay stagnant. Fake 1080p video stream encode, poor subtitle translations and worse possible scenario. Favoritism given this new partnership and pushing competition away without a fair share of growth. What would benefit us is more competition and for companies to try and up each other by growing and making a better/cheaper service so maybe we as hard core consumers could subscribe to all of these sites and not have to potentially do the job pointing out the companies latest victim in quality control. They're to small to deal with this change at the moment. But even if its or bound to be a one stop site, how many of those countless titles on this one stop shop are you even looking at? Its the Netflix effect but with anime.
This does sound like a good idea, if this was actually something actually happening. Its just wishful thinking so far. Insiders would just make more expensive deals over at CR to have more sponsorship or have titles be stream-able over at CR or distributed under their name to strangle out the other contenders. It'll be a bar fight under one giant tent on who gets to work with the tiny circus leader the most. They'll be middlemen within a middleman. But I could be wrong, yet the community seems to be fine with oligopolies unless its their favorite hobby on the line. |

@ Lynx Amali & bs3311: Nothing either one of you has brought up explains to me why it would be better to have multiple sites divvying up titles and therefore a customer, if he or she wanted to stream legitimately, having to pay multiple subscription fees.
Yes, you have to be a premium member to have access to CR's catalog of non-current shows. Seems fair to me. I have zero problem with CR's visual quality. Poor subtitle translations? What, so some other company is going to solve the problem of getting exquisite translations when you have incredibly short time frames to turn around a currently airing show? Yeah, sure. Nope, give me one place, one subscription fee, thank you very much. I don't care if it's CR or some other place as long as it's one. |

I am not convinced that companies trying to up each other will be a good thing in the long run. Some industry insiders have said that the fierce competition between Crunchyroll and Funimation caused a rise of licensing costs to insane levels. I am happy with Crunchyroll's service and even if they become a streaming monopoly, it would be very unwise for them to think that they could offer a crappy service and/or raise their subscription cost to more than $10 per month or $100 a year. The moment that happens, most of their subscribers will go to illegal means to watch their anime. |

I just gave you one. Better/cheaper services. Server maintenance isn't that expensive now a days yet we're still living under the 60-50 bucks a year subscription model. Plus, mmo players have dealt with issues like these where they spent monthly far more than streaming services an sometimes on multiple mmo's. And their solution was to sub on and off, you are not obligated to keep your subscription running. That is a fault on you the consumer.
Ignore it all you want and spare twisting my point, it shows that CR despite its reach can't handle every single thing that is plopped onto their plate just like any other company.
And the solution here should be to drop everything onto 2 companies that have a big record of poor QC this year alone? But seriously, I hope this deal helps in dropping said costs in the long run. But as you stated, fierce competition between 2 companies an just between 2. Yet despite my hope, dropping the prices wont equate to healthy competition unless the Japanese publishers will just work with certain companies besides CR and Funi. The lower the cost, the more a single company like CR or Funi will just snap it up for a potential shoddy release and treatment leaving little scrap to companies that could possible do it more justice. |

Me,I just hope this gets an English dub. "Long Riders" sounds like a pretty good show and if you ask me,it deserves a dub. I hope it's successful because it looks like it's going to be a fun one.
