Always great to see GSR/Miku winning the championship!
Hopefully there will be more Miku related articles on ANN, Miku was in Tokyo/Japan ad, and doing that voice thing for Amanzon Japan. |

That whole series is an otaku's dream.
The upper level GT500 class is the Japanese factory marque class meaning just Japanese cars participate. However the GT300 class tailors to FIA GT3 specification, meaning all sorts of cars can participate. Additionally - although it's waned in recent years - most all the GT300 cars carry "itasha" type sponsorship. That reached a bit of a high point five or so years ago when nearly every car in the field had a manga/anime connection. Competitors EVA Racing actually calls their GT300 Mercedes "EVA Type 01" or something like that. While Super GT as a whole is raced by Japanese drivers a good handful of ex-Formula One and ex-world sports car drivers have participated in the series. The weight "penalties" imposed on the cars each race help to level out the playing field some and make it where a different car will (in theory) win at each circuit. |
