I would have been fine (and secretly sad) with the anime ending it off at this point right before the war, a good point to encourage fans wanting to know what's next to start reading, looks like we about to get more moving picture stones after all!

I think most people expected this was the "big announcement" but it is still nice to get confirmation. I had a feeling I would like Dr. Stone going into it, but I was surprised by how much I looked forward to each new episode.

Since season two of Dr. Stone will focus on Stone Wars arc, so that means season two will have only 12 episodes?

Great. Dr. Stone quickly became one of my favorite anime series from this year.

Not surprised by this at all and Dr. Stone has been one of my favorites this year. But I guess One Piece, Boruto, and Black Clover are the last of the long running shonen manga adaptations that keep airing weekly without breaks.

So I'm still a little confused.
So it was announced a week or so ago "the manga" would have an important announcement inside the weekly issue.

But here the article mentions an announcement on the last episode of the anime and not directly from the manga.
Can I assume both announcements were the same?

They are. The color spread for the latest chapter has a blurb announcing season 2 as well.

I've loved every minute of this series watching it on Toonami. Its sheer enthusiasm for the pursuit of knowledge and the potential of human achievement is incredibly refreshing in the shonen world. As someone who's been in the physics world for a good chunk of my life, I keep shouting "F*** YEAH SCIENCE!!!" at my TV on a regular basis. Very Happy
