I find it odd that for as well known as Yoko Taro is, a lot of people don't know that he wrote a manga. Hopefully the series will have a satisfying ending.

So just found about this series and the dark nature looks intriguing. Since the story deals with war and death, something that usually accompanies those two is rape. So is there any rape in this series? I'd like to know prior to potentially reading just I can mentally prepare my self.

As far as I remember — sex scenes sure existed, there is molesting and governmental organized prostitution — but I don't recall any outright rape scenes (in a sexual way, cause mind break is a completely common thing in this manga). It's one heck of a crazy violent story that can make Elfen Lied or The Future Diary looks pale compared to it, but still not that kind of violence.
