Okay, so I'll admit right off the bat that I'm not the biggest reader of manga, but I've just got into the King of Hell series. I really like this manga as it has the right mixture of action, comedy, and drama. I wanted to know if anyone else has read this manga and what you thought of it?

I got the first volume out of the library and I thought it was pretty funny.

Dang this thread is old.

Yes, yes, it is...

I think King of Hell is one of the best manwah I have read. Hardly boring, the main character seems serious in the beginning, but after a couple of pages his strange but likeable personality shows. Total character irony. The plot is also something I like, although there is something people say about demons and Koreans...they go hand in hand. You may think that the King of Hell is the devil, and the envoy/emissary to the next world would be the devil's right hand man/demon, but that's hardly the case. And Cerberus, the famed three-headed dog of the Underworld? Merely reduced to the "three-headed, ebony horse-dog...thing"!

V. V. funny!

By the way, is there a definite number of volumes for King of Hell? I thought it was just 10, but I heard there was 13 and it seems like there should be more, since there's a lot of things this Majeh character has to do. OR, is it still ongoing in Korea?

I purchased the first novel and I wasn't impressed. The author seemed to stretch themself to thin to make the reader laugh. Speaking of Korean novels, I also purchased the first novel of Chronicles of the Cursed Sword. I don't recommend it.

I have to agree that the storyline in the beginning of the Manhwa was a little odd and it wasn't well driven making some readers not wanting to read past this volume. For me though I kept on reading past the first and second volumes and noticed that the storyline and the character development improves greatly with each passing volume.

Since this thread has been dead for so long, i'll update on where the series is currently at today. At the moment Tokyopop currently has published 22 volumes of the manhwa while the Korea publisher (Daiwon) has 31 volumes released. Tokyopop has been gradually catching up with the Korean publisher, releasing a volume every 2-3 months. It will still be a least a couple more years until Tokyopop catches up with Daiwon. FYI the series is still ongoing in Korea.

In all I really like the Manhwa with its good humor, art, and great fights scenes. Hopefully someday I would like to see this series become animated.

Whoa, this topic is over six years old. But I haven't heard of that title in ages. I am surprized there are still some people that actually read old, but decent manga like that.

Volume 23 should be out in the next couple of weeks.

spoiler[This is the volume I been waiting for since Majeh finally fights against the Sa Gok leader and the fights should be more intense. He might have to revert to his adult form to beat him.

To bad baby hasn't released his most powerful personality (Kwang) in the last volume when he was fighting against one of the Sa Gok Generals. I would like to see what Kwang is truly capable of.]
