I tried to watch the Creamy Mami anime once, but didn't make it halfway through episode 1 and dropped it because I felt it was way too cheesy for me. Ironically though, this really won me over, and I really felt for both Megumi and Yu/Mami in their situations. And yeah, Shingo is an absolute dick who totally deserves all the slaps Megumi dishes out, because she deserves way better than him. Hell, even the mangaka points out that while his behavior may have been acceptable in the 80s, nowadays his assholish actions would be considered workplace bullying. When even the mangaka making this knows Shingo is an asshole, you know the work is in good hands.
