The article should have mentioned what the National Institute of Informatics was. I thought it was a US institution but found out it was in Japan. Doing 5 mins of research they are a research institution, the only one for animation in Japan, and they seem to have an English database. They seem to also invite people around the world to help conduct research. An article about them for an anime website would be great.

| Quote: | | research new techniques to increase the efficiency of animation production, such as automatic image creation (supplementing in-between frames, high-resolution images, automatically generated 3D models, etc.) | I don't know, part of what makes hand-drawn animation appealing is that each frame can look however you want it to look, there is just something soulless about auto-tweening. I can't even say this would make animators lives easier, as studios would just make more titles.
