The director has been pretty adamant in recent interviews that he wanted to make the Godzilla trilogy a big brawl of monsters, but was stonewalled by Toho into creating the overly pretentious, boring final product. (I can’t call it intelligent because Singular Point genuinely was an intelligent show and to imply the same for the trilogy feels like it’s insulting Singular Point). The trailer feels like he’s making up for lost time, letting Gamera have these massive set piece brawls with the monsters instead of just focusing on the people talking and their philosophical arguments.
