Let's see if that ends ub being better than their previous co-produced anime, from which they lost the streaming rights starting this year.

They keep saying how great the partnership is but Sentai barely has any MBS shows.

Sentai couldn't have done much in the way of production for Ars no Kyojuu, they probably just got exclusivity by paying extra and then ended up in the credits out of pity. The show page now 404's, the irony.

What was the first title they co-produced? I am surprised that they lost the rights for something they co-produced.

Did ADV co-produce a show? back in the day I recall hearing something like that.

Not sure where they got the MBS part out of this, I’ve read press release outside ANN and doesn’t mention MBS anywhere.

Also this is a PonyCan production, not MBS, as unrelated as it gets.

For what’s worth, a big % of what Hidive has been streaming is MBS. And 2 of the shows just got S2 announcements, lastame and parry.

Never said this new show was related to MBS, I'm pointing out the fact that a show Hidive supposedly partnered with is no longer available on their site.

Giant Beasts of Ars was an original project, Petals of Reincarnation is manga adaptation soooo maybe this will be a little better as long as the story isn't butchered?

I want Sentai/HIDIVE to keep being involved in co-productions, but I am almost shocked that they are talking another crack at it with how Beasts of Ars flopped. I hope that this one being an adaptation produces better results.

Don't mind el_morris comments. He hates Sentai/HIDIVE with every fiber of his being.

I’ve heard good things about the source material so I’m exited to see how the adaptation pans out.

Also never said you did, was just mentioning how I don't see any reason for the MBS paragraph to be on the news, makes no sense.

Man, I remember reading this manga years and years ago. Never got too far but it was interesting. Maybe I should pick it up again.

Interesting Sentai picked this title to back. I guess they feel confident?

ADV managed to get themselves onto the production committees for Kino's Journey [2003] (but not the later two short films), Samurai Gun, Chance Pop Session, & Elfen Lied, though ADV or John Ledford aren't listed anywhere in the credits for the last one. This is why ADV Films still legally exists as (essentially) a zombie company, because by being part of the production committees for these shows it pretty much has eternal rights to them outside of Japan (so it needs to continue existing as pretty much a holding company), though for whatever reason Samurai Gun is the only one that hasn't been featured on Hidive ever since it launched in 2017. Guyver TV was also often thought to be of one of those but in reality Sojitz was a part of the production committee, not ADV, hence why that one went to FUNimation after things went sour between ADV & Sojitz.

Back in the day this was the easiest way for an English anime company to be involved in the production of a TV anime, but doing so essentially gave them no real say over it. It was just a way to guarantee rights to it outside of Japan.

Wasn't the Bubblegum Crisis reboot an ADV co-pro?
