These days, any premise that is kind of offbeat and doesn't immediately remind me of 50 other shows I have seen recently is likely to snag my attention... as this one has.

Agreed, though the premise bears the smell of tragedy to me and I usually try to avoid that.

I'm assuming you gave Takopi's Original Sin a wide berth, then!

I did indeed, that show was just way too much for me.

That and I tend to watch anime to relax, Takopi was not a show to unwind with.

My summary of Takopi's Original Sin was that I was glad I watched it, but I'll never watch it again, and that still stands.
I just watched the trailer for this anime, and I have to say it has the hallmarks of a potential keeper. It sounds like a mash-up of at least three concepts that could make an anime all on their own, but the music and artwork and idea all seem like they came from talented people who aren't just looking to make par. |

Episode 0
Episode Zeros can be tough in helping to decide whether a show is for you or not, but at least this one didn't make me go wtf like so many of its brethren do. It didn't blow me away, but it didn't dampen my interest, either. I know what the premise is so it is good to have the back story on the MC's girlfriend before the real story begins. See ya next week. |

I think this was as good an episode 0 as I've seen in terms of not feeling like a trailer on steroids or a premature ova. It certainly didn't dissuade me from watching further, and it may be that having a glimpse of the past relationship will give the upcoming events a little texture or depth.

I love the prediction that 2038 is when the world would freak out about AI taking everyone's job. Probably a decade later than reality will be.

Episode 0 did its job of making me care for the characters... all three of them. I am curious to see if the show will go in that direction 100% but I can say it's a love triangle for the ages.
Hint: Towasa's AI was in love with Akira and on the day Akira was shot, Towasa announced her LC human-AI relationship program, what are the odds... I thought episode 0 was excellent but I could see people thinking it was just average if the viewer only expected it to introduce just Akira and Towasa. It did a lot more than that. |

I was pretty bored through most of episode 0, but the last few minutes was enough to keep me on board to sample the main series at least.
Aside from boring, I had trouble following all the multiple subtitle things going on at once with people talking over newscasts in the background. There had to be a better way to handle that, like maybe keep the subs for one conversation in one part of the screen and the other dialog in a different part of the screen, instead of sometimes but not always having both at the bottom but timed differently so that it takes a beat to tell which sentence the new text completes. I've seen a number of anime with this problem and it always annoys me. |

That's not the case; the "you" in her "I'm jealous of you" line is plural in the Japanese dialogue, so she's saying she's jealous of both Towasa and Akira. |

With so many shows on CR I forget one or two are on Hidive which is why it took till today to check this out. Gotta hand it to the writer to get over the "not blood related" bit of "will they, won't they" up front and put in enough to make the romance believable even when done in short-form. Now I'm interested to see what happened and will happen...Looks promising...
