Having watched both seasons I honestly enjoyed both. While the overall storyline in S2 may not be the most groundbreaking it was still interesting & had me curious as to where it was going next. While Lloyd is still only primarily interested in magic I'd say this season more clearly shows that he is still sympathetic & caring to those close to him even if magic isn't fully involved. Heck, he even refuses to perverse Jade's magic, showing that despite not being able to save him he truly does respect him & everything he went through. Speaking of other characters I disagree with the notion that most are just there to gush over Lloyd, as while they still do think highly of him they clearly don't revolve around solely him. Sure the story could've perhaps done more with them & the main villain but what we got in S2 was fine I think.
As for Escher's song while it's disappointing it's just "La la la" over and over again, and while the dub could've done something different I don't think it's fair to knock it on that when the sub is just as guilty. To me that speaks to a lack of creativity and/or effort on the production/music side than anything else. Overall I agree S2 is better than S1, though I will also say that if a S3 is made in the future more should be done both for Lloyd & those around him, though given how S2 handled things I have a feeling they would. Definitely disagree with the review. I enjoyed the first season and loved the 2nd way more. Everything was bigger and deeper. The side characters definitely had more time to shine and had really fun battles. The villain was awesome and tragic.
