OK, this is nice for any fans (including newer fans) that haven't gotten any previous copies from Dark Horse.

Judging by the cover design, guessing these will be unflipped? I can't remember if Dark Horse ever released Appleseed that way before.

Yes, they did. In November 2007 they put out the third edition of volume one in an unflipped version. The other volumes followed. Unfortunately while their first issue (the second edition) was flipped it was in comic book size (roughly 10 inches by 7) and the new third edition while unflipped was in digest size (roughly 8 inches by 6, this is normal manga size now) The larger size displayed Masamune's artwork better. The first edition of volumes 1 to 3 was from Eclipse International comics.

Thank you for the clarification Alan45, and I want to add into this too: I was able to read 2 volumes of Appleseed on Hoopla and yes, they're unflipped on Hoopla. So, they've already been released unflipped judging from your post, and also from what I read on Hoopla.

In addition to the initial four volumes of Appleseed, Dark Horse also published Appleseed Hypernotes and Appleseed ID. Both contained a lot of world building information. Hypernotes included manga short story and ID contained the beginning of the uncompleted fifth volume. I expect these will be included in the companion volume and possibly more.
Black Magic can also be added to the titles published by Dark Horse.
