Part of me feels like it’s too soon for a reboot, but I understand it’s a two-birds-one-stone thing. This gives the manga more chance to get ahead, now newer fans can join in without having to go all the way back to the first season, which had animation and pacing issues.

There is nothing better than anime remake announcements.
Hopefully we get more soon. |

I'm on the fence too, but leaning more toward "yes" for more World Trigger. If it can have a beneficial effect on the manga's pace, then all the better.

Was planning on watching it but since they doing a reboot, might as well wait for that.

Great if any anime needed a reboot it was this one. I tried to get into it when it first started airing, but it looked like garbage. It was barely animated and the cg for the creatures was awful. When anything was animated it was incredibly stiff and stilted. Normally I'm in the camp thats like why not just adapt from where you left off, but the first anime is so awful looking that in this case, no you need to reboot it so people might actually check it out now that they don't have to sit through a bunch of episodes that look like crap before it gets good looking

Got to be the earliest anime reboot I've seen (unless Eat-Man '98 counts), and I'd have preferred a sequel, but I'm willing to watch it if it has the same animation quality as the last two seasons of the previous adaptation.

According to rumors only S1 will be remade anyway. So after this you'll likely get S4 since they ain't touching S2 and S3. |

Yeah I think it's a remake of S1. S3 was from 2021 |

Per the article:
Where does this exist? I didn't remember watching those seasons with a dub, so I rechecked my MAL notes for my viewing record and both confirm I only viewed them subtitled. I checked at Crunchyroll and both still show as only available subtitled. |

Last I recall it was on Netflix or Prime Video. This is typical Toei.

As long as they remake the first season with the quality seasons 2 and 3 got I'm completely fine with this. I've seen clips from that season, and the animation just doesn't do it for me. I'd like to see all those fights redone so that I'd actually want to rewatch them.

Yeah, this was another victim of what I brought up in the Nagamine thread since it was during that period when Toei had too many shows in production at the same time (8 of them in 2014) plus I remember the early promotion for this not being good either.
They were released digitally on the Microsoft Store, Vudu & Hoopla 2-3 years ago, same way Digimon & Dragon Quest Dai's reboot dubs were except those later got on Hulu and also half of the latter got on Netflix. |

Am I weird for not having problems with, or perhaps not remembering the supposed poor quality of S1?
I mean, it was a long time ago, but I did watch several seasons of it, and if I had strong objections with S1, I'd likely have dropped it soon rather than later. Then again, I'm not too fussed about perfect quality animation... story being good, I just keep going at it. Weird animation frames and strange angles never caught my attention much... I mostly only detect things once it becomes a meme. xD Maybe it's just 1st contact bias, but I still kinda like originals over or at least on par with reboots even ones that the original admittedly had several flaws... original FMA, HxH, Fruits Basket, Trigun, Kenshin, ... even some that might be a bit controversial... original Fate/Stay Night, Kino no Tabi, Kanon (though I enjoyed the reboot of these a lot). Sometimes it's the fact that the original was a bit quirky, bit weird, bit "outside spec" that was part of the charm per se. Not sure if it's the case for World Trigger since, as I said, I don't remember it being this bad, and have nothing to compare to. Good one for a restart though... I can't even remember much of what was going on last time I watched, perhaps it wasn't even the latest season. Ongoing simulated battle competition between the teams or something? Interesting sci-fi game-like plot though. |

It's because I and many others watch anime for good animation, sound design, music, voice acting, etc. If most of those things are done poorly (with most of the weight being assigned to animation) then why watch it? You can get the story from reading the source, and at this point you can read World Trigger for free through Mangaplus. I apply similar logic to One Piece since they put too much filler, their sounds annoy me, and until Wano a decent amount of the time the animation was lacking. So I'd just read, and then if I heard the anime got to a fight I liked I'd check to see how it was animated (typically not in a way I liked - looking at you Zoro vs. Hody) and I'd continue reading the manga instead of watching. |
