Welp, the first episode certainly came delivered with extra cheese, and I had more than a few flashbacks to both versions of the Bartender anime while watching it, but I found it interesting. It looks like the typical Japanese tutorial anime where the show is at least one fourth infomercial about whatever the given topic is, merged with a dramatic showdown between a good natured but stubborn prodigal son and a smarmy but not (if I'm reading it right) completely unprincipled wine fanatic, both competing for a wine collection worth billions.
I found it interesting. The voice acting pushes the melodrama and it feels like someone is having an intense emotional reaction to something every ten seconds, but interesting. |

Not a bad start but friday has two alcohol themed anime and Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk entertained me more so a drop it is. I appreciate the show for going all out though, it reminded me a bit of Yakitate!! Japan somehow.

Watched Episode 01 and am curious how this got 44 volumes of manga. Even if it's half wine science and half power struggle, that's a lot of content. I guess even if Shizuka ends up inheriting his father's company, there could still be a lot of drama about the inner workings of the industry or something.
Much like the Bartender shows, I'm not a booze connoisseur, by any means (I drink water, and occasionally juice or soda), but I don't mind learning about it. I think the kicker is that Shizuka has a super-sniffer, so that could be interesting to see how he interprets all the wine and/or other food/drink we might see throughout the series. It could lead to some nice slice of life moments. |

Ep 1-3
Well, amazingly there's nothing I'm following on Fridays except Slime, and this is no worse, so I guess I'm watching by default. It's not bad, is kinda educational, and the animation in ep 3 seems a bit less wonky than the previous episodes. Overall though it takes itself waaaay too seriously, which I think befits the topic. 3 So many coincidences! Like God Himself is guiding their journey toward the 12 Apostles! Amnesia lady's husband is seriously suss. Maybe he's just afraid she'll remember she's already married and leave him, but I think there will be more to why he's so adamant that she doesn't need to remember. |
