This is a follow up to mine other threads about Hentai. Another problem I have with Hentai is when its place right next to shounen anime in stores. For example when I was browsing the limted anime section of Best Buy. I saw Hentai titles right next to titles such as Bleach and Naruto. Which I think should never happen. Hentai titles should never be next to shounen anime period. I think the stores should be at fault if children ever get there hands on this material. Keep Hentai where its belong in the 18 or over section of the stores or in sex stores. Like with regular porn but never with shounen titles.

So why are you bringing this up here and not complaining to your local stores? Do you expect us to go do it for you? Plus, what are these hentai titles you say are next to Bleach? I find this unbelievable since my Best Buy doesn't even carry, nor can order, hentai. So I would love to know what supposed hentai you saw there in the open. Hell, my Best Buy, and every single one I've ever been to, has never even carried real pornographic material. Stores also try their best to section it off properly, as they can get in trouble if they don't, all forms of adult content. Some places may honestly not even know what hentai is, the few that carry it. Should the stores take responsibility to a point for it if they don't, sure. However, where are the parents in your little rants about the evil of hentai? Why did they let their sooooo young and impressionable child out of their site? If the kid is that young and mentally insecure that he/she will be scarred irrevocably from seeing the hentai box of Twin Dolls then why is he/she not with their parents? Even if they got a hold of the box that is hardly going to scar them. You make it sound like they're playing it right n the store for everyone to see. Plus, even if they section it off kids wander around. If that kid got a hold of it, even if it was properly sectioned off, you'd still be here whining like a 3 year old yourself. You'd still find a reason to complain. If the child is that young they obviously won't be able to buy it, and in turn watch it. Thus they won't be subject to the filth of hentai.

What are you talking about? I've never seen Best buy even carry hentai. I think if they do carry it, then them even carrying it is probly the issue rather than wether it happens to be next to some other Anime. Besides, unless your issue is kids accidentally actually buying and watching it which is impossible, then i hardly think it matters. Its not like its really gonna do much harm if a kid sees the box of a Hentai title. Unless it has graphic and/or pornographic pictures on it, (which ofcourse I highly doubt. Best Buy isnt gonna put something like that on their shelves.)

I've seen hentai in stores, but not Best Buy. I've seen it in Media Play and in Sam Goody stores but never in a Best Buy. Considering that they usually have a system that requires an age verification on any kind of mature purchase (like a video game or a normal movie) I kind of doubt any little kids are getting their hands on any hentai titles in stores.
When I've seen the titles in stores, the covers were hidden behind semi-opaque plastic sheets or it was shrink wrapped in similarly difficult to see through plastic. Kids probably aren't being exposed by accident to hentai.
Rental stores are another matter. I've seen and others on the board have mentioned finding hentai out on the rental shelves in the kid's section (because all animation is for kids right? ) but retail stores aren't that stupid generally.
I think maybe you're confused. Perhaps you saw a fanservice heavy series rather than a hentai?

I've never seen hentai anime at Best Buy either, but they do have a number of those Hirameki PC/DVD hentai games (with the hentai removed versions) in their anime section. Maybe these confused narutofan.
Also, in Suncoast and Sam Goody I have numerous times seen hentai animes mixed in with the regular animes. Sometimes it is because the workers misplaced them (obvious when they are many copies of the same hentai anime in the regular anime section) other times customers moved them there. Also, in Suncoast/Sam Goody usually the Hirameki games go into the hentai section (but not always), so there's some mixture there.
I have also occasionally dug through the hentai anime section and Suncoast/Sam and found NON-hentai animes. Likewise, sometimes it is because customers put them there but othertimes the workers mistakenly put many copies of the same anime there. Examples of this I saw were Golden Boy and Petite Cossette. Hrm, it now occurs to me I'm kinda looking for the old DVD collection of Devil Hunter Yohko, but I don't recall seeing it recently. Maybe I should look in the hentai anime section at the local Suncoasts/Sams. It seems like the kind of thing (old, might be interpreted loosely as porno) that could go there too. And the hentai sections at the local Suncoasts are getting suspiciously full and taking up many shelves, I wonder what is in it these days.
Also, Anime Works is releasing a lot of non-hardcore gay anime these days. Pretty much everything they release is now gay, with one or two exceptions. Best Buy is FILLED with these, especially this week when they got a huge shipment of Anime Works animes. A stupid friend tricked me into getting Loveless, for example, and it doesn't seem nearly as gay as many of the other titles I see on Best Buy's shelves right now. I am not sure how explicit some of these are, but the fact that they cater to unusual tastes may offend some people and lower their tolerance bar before they declare it to be 'porn'.

My FYE at the local mall has a vast selection of hentai within their anime section. I'd say there's about 30 percent hentai to 70 percent anime if not more hentai than that.
The anime section USED to sit right across from the ADULT section, but I guess they wised up and moved it from there, but the multitude of hentai still dwells within the confines of the anime section. And it's not like it's hidden on the back of the racks or anything, A lot of the hentai is in the very front open for any unsuspecting, or suspecting eyes.
It bothers me, because I want to browse the anime section, but I don't appreciate whatever stares I might get because there's anime porn sitting right next to whatever I'm picking up.
As far as Best Buy goes...I don't think I've ever seen any hentai there.

As a former Sam Goody/Suncoast employee I can tell you the directions we were given were to cover the front of the racks with those big black panels. The placement was up to us and at my store we chose to put it next to the real porn, which was only Playboy stuff and Girl's Gone Wild (hardly real porn). As for the FYE nearest me, the use the same black panels to cover the front of each group but they are next to the regular anime. As for why the product gets mixed in with the regular anime, and vice versa, so much is most employees don't know, or care, about their own job there let alone anime itself. Most are teenagers who could care less about the store and proper placement. They're there to get a paycheck and that's it. I don't expect them to care much honestly where they put things.

Well unlike you guys, I HAVE seen hentai at one of my Best Buys, Night Shift Nurses, Can Can Bunny, and Tale of Little Monica to be exact, and they were behind other anime titles in the very back.

Well I have been to many states but Oklahoma is not one of them. I have never heard of hentai at a Best Buy and I know for a fact mine can't even order it, as it doesn't even show in their systems. Night Shift Nurses is hentai, though it's not good by any standards.

Not good by any standards? It has better animation then most and constant defication missile flying across the room is pretty cool. Cause he's a SCATMAN!!
I don't think those DVD's were evn in the system, but they were there.

Best Buy is often disorganized and stupid, although this varies over time. I am totally not surprised if they have real hentai animes out in the open from time to time. Right now, their shelves are filled with gay or pseudo-gay anime (last week) due to Anime Works. And Anime Works also releases mostly porn, that's pretty much all they do these days, porn and gay. It would be no surprise that by accident Best Buy orders the porn sometimes, and it wouldn't surprise me if they had a DVD that didn't show in the electronic system.
If I were Best Buy I wouldn't get any more Anime Works titles any more, that company used to be good but now they are just feeding off of leftover aquisitions that other companies stayed away from, which mostly only leaves gay and hentai left. They even lost their sole respectable title (Oh My Goddess! TV series) to ADVision for Season 2, which is pathetic.
I remember Best Buy always had lots of copies of Sakura Diaries too. I've never seen it but it's supposed to be a mildly hentai anime, if I heard correctly.
Also, why is Best Buy ordering Hirameki DVD hentai games? They are crazy and disorganized. If Geneon or Funimation decided they wanted to do hentai, Best Buy would probably unrealizingly sell that too (until someone complains).

With many stores, they pretty much will go by whatever policies they have. If it's pretty blantant like Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, Vivid et al., they will "Segregate" them into the Adult Section. If it's not that blantant (Like Hentai) they might just stick it in with the Anime.
Same is true with the Bookstores. One location has them alphabeticlly with the regular stuff, another store just down the road has them seperated at the begining of the section high up where little kids can reach them.

So why is it such an outrage that hentai gets put next to shounen titles in particular, as opposed to other types of non-hentai anime? Would you care to give us some exact titles of the alleged hentai you found next to Bleach and Naruto? Or did you just see DVD cases with scantily-clad girls on them and assume they were hentai?
