I thought it was very funny as well. I managed to catch a couple of episode's at a recent convention and I must say the series was well received. You could hear people laughing from across the hall. Even the intro is funny to watch.

Guu is Guu, As of the OVAs, we don't know anything about her. I'd say more, but there is an actual plot to it that I would spoil.
Suffice it to say, there is a theory that is spoilers thru the final OVA spoiler[ The theory is that Guu is perhaps Hale's sister, who came back from the future to insure that she would be born and to torture her brother, who is sure to torture her for the rest of her life. This does not, however, explain her Adult form. That suggest Alien or perhaps Oni. We don't know, and the upcoming final OVA might shead some light.] The biggest thing about Guu is don't mess with someone that has a dimension in their stomach. |

I LOVE THIS ANIME!!!
I have found this to be one of the funniest animes I have seen. There are some parts that you just can't stop laughing at. spoiler[Such as when the doctor's being chased by the "hair dresser" woman after she's gone totally psycho. You just have to feel sorry for him. ] Currently I have seen all 26 eps of the anime and all 6 of the "Deluxe" OVA series. And of course I am dying for the "Final" OVA series to come out. The series just keeps getting better and better and I always want to see more. Oh, and if you loved the intro, then I’m sure you will love the outro to the Deluxe OVA. That one is one of my favorites
This is one anime/manga that I wish/pray/dream would come to the US. I don't care who does it as long as they do it *correctly* and in good quality. I have tried to request the manga from Tokyopop, but other than that, I’m not sure who to ask to get this licensed and released over here. Any help doing so would be appreciated. |

Count me as another lover of this show. I'd buy it in a minute....
What's the story with the 6 OAVs? I knew about the final one, but not the other 6.... |

What?! You knew about the Final OVA series, but you didn't know about the Deluxe OVA series?... I guess it's possible since some still haven't heard of Jungle Guu at all. The 6 episode Deluxe OVA has been out for a while now and takes place right where the anime ends. I'm assuming that the Final OVA will start right where the Deluxe series ends, but since it's not out yet, i'm not certin.
Oh, and just incase you were wondering, in my opinion, the Deluxe OVA is just as good as the rest of the series.

I totally loved this series. What's annoying is that when it was aired the tv station made bumper promos with Haré and Guu that were hilarious, but they were not on the DVD.
The humor in Haré no Guu is more universal that something like FLCL which is somewhat similar but its humor is decisively culturally Japanese... so i agree with rage-demon and think it work well in the U.S. if done correctly. The soundtrack also has the funniest X-mas song involving Santa and chest hair. |

Just wait until you see the rest .
Truthfully, right now i don't care which company gets this, i just want them to get it over here quickly and to do it correctly. Although acording to www.animenfo.com, AN Entertainment (AnimeNation) will be doing the US distirbution. But that's totaly unoffical, so who knows. But hey, this might mean that it will be released here in the US soon. (:fingers crossed:, :fingers crossed:) I'm sure that just about anyone will find this to be a good anime, but if it will be shown on TV it will be edited quite a bit. Since, however, i'm going straight for the DVDs when they come out, i don't care ^_~. But then again, i thought i would never see FLCL on TV. The thought never even crossed my mind until i turned on the TV and there it was (of course by that time i had alrealy bought all of the DVDs )
One question to add: does anyone have any info on the manga for this anime? |
