Remember when I asked why most of the North American animated shows/movies that Voicebox Productions are doing the casting & VA work for have some Ocean Group VA's alongside with various different other VA's? Yet all the anime dubs they are the VA/casting studio for are just Ocean Group only. Unlike most VA studios in Canada they are actually quite capable of utilizing VA's from the USA alongside with Canadian VA talent pool. I asked them why is that and one of the people whom works there replied to me that their clients (the anime dub companies in this case) have never really bothered yet. They are by all means QUITE able to do the VA casting work and such on Anime just as much as North American animation they work on. Its just that the companies hiring them never really thought about it.
VP has been doing VA/casting work for anime dubs only just recently such as Transformers Armada (SD Entertainment), Zoids Fuzors (Hasbro, ShoPro) and Cardcaptors the Movie (Nelvana). The people at VP said if any certain company whom hires them wants to have other good VA's to work with Ocean Group on doing the VA work on a Anime dub they by all means could. (Like lets say Pioneer for example, if Pioneer wanted to they could quite possibly use VA talent from the USA alongside with Ocean Group in future dubs. And considering how Pioneer can be sometimes don't be too suprised if they actually do it.) And they even just informed me that there a few new people in the VA scene with be doing VA talent with them soon. They didn't mention anymore than that, I dunno if its for Anime dubs for North American animation (or both). For those whom are tired of how limited VA talent can be for the most part in Anime dubs will certainly find this to be good news. (Even those whom aren't tired of how limited they can be such as myself might find this intresting.) So in another words I told the person working at VP that I am sharing e-mails with that I hope that dub companies will start realizing that VA's casting abilities are not just from the Vancouver VA talent pool. (I.E Ocean Group) And that person replied that they hope so too. I know that increasing the variety of (hopefully) quality VA talent in anime dubs is not the "end all be all" of improving the quality in anime dubs. But lets just say I might not be the only one whom is intrested on what VP can do if told to. So in another words VP can do a good amount of variety in VA talent when it comes to anime dubs, the companies who've hired them so far haven't quite noticed that just yet. That my fellow viewers is a fact thats been verified by VP themselves. Pokejedservo |
