It was okay, but I didn't like how whiny the main character was in the first few episodes.

I'm about half way through watching Blue Gender and I liked it enough to buy it. It is by no means a classic show, but it is entertaining. So far it has had a very tense 'aliens on earth' feel to it, and for the first half dozen episodes it was very depressing.

I actually like the main character 'Yugi' and feels that his behaviour is right for any teanager in the situation he finds himself in. I can't speak for the dubbed version as I've only been watching it subtitled though. (Perhaps the guy who plays Yugi in the US version isn't that good.)

I don't know about that.

Anyway, Blue Gender was a fairly good series, but if you are unsure I reccommend trying to tape the show on AS before dropping the 100 bucks for the box set

Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication between FUNimation & Cartoon Network, the Adult Swim version was given a much harsher time with editing than most other Adult Swim shows (especially in the early episodes, which seem reminiscent of Toonami-type treatment).

I like Toni or Tony I forgot how to spell his name. But anyway I like him he is a cold killer. But the anime is cool and take this as a tip. Set your VHS to record and put it the t.v. on CartoonNetwork and let it record. That just an idea. Very Happy

Urrgh. Saw a few eps and never finished it. But from what I heard it's good, aside from how it was handled on AS.

I guess it's pretty good considering you like wusses going berserk and bug juice. It doesn't grab me too well.

It was all right...I guess. I'm not a big fan of tv edits although I know it's a necessity if we want more anime on tv. Yeah like everyone else said, record it on your vcr or tivo it, don't base your whole oppinion of the show on the adult swim version though. It is much better unedited.

I want to know how Dragonball got away with something Blue Gender couldn't. Confused

On today's episode of Dragonball, Goku punches some lady in the stomach. In BG, Marlene gets punched in the stomach but the actual contact between her stomach and whats-his-name's fist was removed. Neutral

EDIT: Oh. And [adult swim] is replacing Blue Gender with Cowboy Bebop and skipping the last episode.

Basically, the story as I understand it, is that FUNimation initially sent the show to Cartoon Network with a VERY scant number of edits (if you recall, FUNimation does all the TV editing for their own shows). However, Cartoon Network sent that version back saying it was still too graphic. FUNimation, not wanting to play tape-Pong & burn resources that could better be spent working on other projects, just played it "cautiously" and sent CN the version you see on Adult Swim today.

So yeah, it was a mix of Cartoon Network being too skiddish, FUNimation not wanting to waste time & money to put up with it, and both sides going a little further than they probably should have (I'd like to see what the version CN rejected looks like).

Saw It, Liked it enough to put the original unedited version on my gotta-get list; way after I complete Lupin the lll. In its entirety its a very yes/no black and white story, with a grade school view of the earths eco-system/Gaia thing tossed-in for effect.....enjoy

That still doesn't make up for the fact a TV-Y7 edit got away with something a TV-14 edit couldn't. Rolling Eyes

I enjoyed the show up until the ending when spoiler[they simultaneously pulled an EVA and Big O, with Yuji finding out what the Blue were up to and some crazy 'Blue Reset Make the Giant Roaches Go Bye-Bye' thing. Neutral ] Needless to say, I wasn't too impressed.
