My homeboy #1Evafan got me into it.Well since I use to watch it but I didn't know what the hell it was until he told me. You should talk to him he is a MotherFizzle on anime. He knows so much junk on anime it will make your head hurt.

Or you might try talking to the mods. No offense to a fellow Metallica fan, but the mods and the Top 10 probably know the most. There was a HUGE topic on this (kind of, but pretty close) several months ago. I'd give a link, but my linking ability is on the fritz. It's on page... somewhere around 14 +/- 4. I first found anime on Toonami, and went from there. So mine's not so much one anime as it is several on a TV block.[/url]

(OT) I remember when they used to show that! Yep, those were the good old days. Now all Sci-Fi interests me with is Mystery Science Theaters and Predator re-runs.

I got several of my friends into anime when I let them all watch the Eva series at my house one day. I guess that's about 4 votes for Eva.

Yeah, I did the same thing with about 5 or 6 of my friends by loaning out my Trigun & Evangelion DVDs. Those that weren't into anime became interested and those that were only into DBZ began to openly expand their "anime vocabulary," so to speak. Very Happy

I got into the whole Toonami thing when I was in middle school. But I believe what really got me into it was Ninja Scroll. That was 5 years ago I think. After that I saw Ghost in the Shell, Akira, and Blue Seed. That pretty much got me hooked there. I love the Action channel. Very Happy

Well, I'll admit to having started off as a Moonie when Sailor Moon was airing in the afternoons on UPN (1996-7 or so), but I wasn't fully hooked until I saw the Ghibli classic Nausicaa in late '98 or early '99. From there, it was a spiral to my college's anime club and a decent-sized collection.

Probably the first, (I can't really remember) that I saw was Trigun MAYBE... well, at least the first "serious" one. I had actually seen Pokemon before anything else if you want to get REAL specific. The first anime dvd I ever bought was Trigun vol. 1. The second series I got into after that was Excel Saga and Oh My Goddess. So many genres, I'm not that picky. I'd say though, romance/comedies are my fav. So anyway (gettin a little off topic there...) my good pal showed me Trigun. He let me borrow his vhs copy of the first volume, and that was all I ever had to see to know that I was going to get that series. It only took me one Excel Saga dvd (vol. 1) to get into that too. It was from my other (and now best) anime pal (he's really the only one of the 2 that's still into it; he's like me Smile). So, I owe it to my friends (but really only the one that's still the anime fan, he had gotten my other friend into anime).
This paragraph is really out of order... but, oh well. Typed it down as it was coming back to me. Wink

My cousin. I was into comic books and then he told me about anime. I rented Akira at block buster and then Ghost in the Shell. I have to admit DBZ helped alot. My friends got me into DBZ and while searching the internet for DBZ i found out about other anime and thus tried these other shows

I got into anime totally by accident, 4 years ago i was looking for some Ramstein on Morpheus and happened across the Engel Eva video. After watching that I knew that I had to see the series. A week later I'd bought the box set and my interest in anime only continued to grow from there.

I've always liked cartoons, and something about the style of shows like pokemon and digimon intrigued me, but I didn't look into it much more. Then a few years ago my science teacher in sixth grade who would always talk to us about music, movies, and video games, and whose judgement on various forms of entertainment I respected, told me to check out Princess Mononoke. I saw it, loved it, and that's pretty much how I got into anime.

Started with Robotech, but AD Police, Bubblegum Crisis, and Ranma 1/2 hooked me back in years later.

Sailor Moon when I was in second grade, then some Pokemon.

In sixth grade I was hooked on Toonnami: Tenchi Muyo, Cardcaptors, and Dragonball Z.

It snowballed from there.
