With the less than amazing review that the latest book got, I started wondering: With all of the knowledgeable writers on staff here, when are we going to see a book by one of the staff members at ANN? Or maybe a collaborative book by more than one ANN staff members?

Any thoughts?

Some already do stuff for some anime mags. *wouldn't be surprised if one did decide to pop out a book eventually*

Meh... I've yet to see a book on anime that was in anyway interesting.... Other than comic books that is....

When I first started watching Anime and wanted to find out more about it I found books like "Anime Explosion! The What? Why? and Wow! of Japanese Animation" and "The anime movie guide : movie-by-movie guide to Japanese animation" incredibly useful and informative. I also liked the famous "Manga! Manga the world of Japanease Comics" and it's "sequel" "Dreamland Japan : writings on modern manga" to be quite good. Anime and Manga magazines can be very interesting to read too. So, I guess that there are some great books on anime out there it's just depends on what you're actually looking for. I personally like to read how Anime relates to Japanease culture and how it's popularity affected the world. I also like to read about the artists who created Anime/Manga. That's why i enjoyed "Hayao Miyazaki : master of Japanese animation : films, themes, artistry"
There are, however, some exceptions. I absoluterly hated "Dragonball Z : an unauthorized guide". I thought it was one of the worst written books I've ever seen. It's even worse than anything by Bill O'Reilly and Ann Coulter (well OK, it might not be THAT bad). Anime trivia quizbook 1 was pretty dumb too but depending on your mood and sense of humour you might find it funny.
