Hola to all you guys here. This is my first post on this board.
I bought the CB 3-disc Set a few days ago. At first I was pretty pleased with myself thinking that I'd saved myself a lot of money getting the whole thing in one go and relatively cheap. Then I got home and found that the quality of the videos are just horrible. It looks like it's a pirate copy or something. It's really that bad. There are nine episodes crammed onto each disc. That adds up to 3 and a half hours. Plus there's extra stuff. They must have used some really vile compression to fit it all in. The extra stuff is annoying as well. The interviews of the japanese talent are left in japanese without even any subtitles in english. And for the love of god... how many trailers of Outlaw Star did I need to watch? There's one on every disc. So I wanted to ask, is this as good as I can get it, or can I find a better set? I live in the UK, so bare that in mind. I'd appreciate any help here. EDIT: there's actually 2 frikkin' tailers for Outlaw Star on every disc. Madness... Last edited by Krayter on Mon Mar 29, 2004 1:42 pm; edited 1 time in total |

What's the region code on this set? Sounds like you got the bootleg.

Yeah, you've bought a pirate set. I guess you could always import the R1 discs and find a region free DVD player if you're desperate enough. Not sure how much that'd cost, though.

I have to admit, i have a 3 disc set one too. Flame me if you want i dont care. It was given to me by a friend for a b-day present. He knows nothing of anime but the few I've showed him and asked for. But i think it is very good quality. Mine is wonderful, not wonderful because its a bootleg type but the quality is wonderful. You have to watch where you buy things, thats all i have to say. Always look on the internet and look around before you buy to prevent this.

It's unfortunate to wind up with a bootleg when you think you are buying the real deal. The best bet is to do some searching around, as there quite a few bootleg guides out there.
animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5401 is a sticky on the retail forum about bootleg sets. So there are resources availble there. |

azzmoneky:"YOU"...2 more letters, lots more sense.
Krayter: Yeah, you got a bootleg. We've all made the mistake at one time or another. Unfortunately, there aren't any box sets of Bebop available anymore. You can find the Limited Box Sets on Ebay, but they're pretty pricey. So, if you wanted the series legit, your best bet would be to buy the 6 discs separately. |

Right. The last time I saw this box set on Ebay it was $100. Way better to buy them separately. |

i for the most part, don't support the purchase of bootlegs/fansubs..although the copies are looking more "professionally made" the subtitles are filled with garish mispellings. plus it's a violation of the artist's work, cost and effort.
but on the same page, anime dvds are becoming more and more expensive (and it only costs pennies to make a dvd) considering the fact, that i don't watch over and over within a month's span. maybe if the english companies can lower the cost, it would be feasable for broke @$$ otakus, to urchase more dvds. don'tcha think? |

Huh? You mean the bootleg or the R1 box set? If you saw the legit box set on eBay for $100, it's WAY cheaper to get one of those rather than buying them separately. $20 a DVD times 6 is more than $100. But yes, if you have distinct morals, buy them legally and honestly. EDIT: Welcome to the forum, Krayter! Last edited by Tony K. on Mon Mar 29, 2004 12:12 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I got all 6 discs about a year ago when Amazon had them for $100 if you bought all 6 at once. They're actually starting to do this more and more from what I've seen. I know they've got another series on sale like this, but I can't remember which one at the moment.
EDIT: I just checked and it's Trigun that they've got a deal on now. All 8 discs for $140. Might be able to find a better deal in other places, but that's really not that bad. |

Wow, $100? That's half the original SRP. I got $300 for a sealed one on Ebay(hugs Steel Battalion) |

Or, if you go here, http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=PIO011606, you can get it all in the box. This is without shipping, although shipping is free, if you want to wait. It's only about $9 more, but makes a good alternative in my opinion... |

Miagi-sama is right. Just look at all of the Bandai and Geneon price cuts. Although box sets are a different story (I think.) |
