Of course you can... if you're a douchenoozle. Sure, photo guys like that can be obnoxious but that doesn't mean you should treat them in kind. I know Luna is supposed to come across as "cool" here but honestly she's just being a dick. |

I remember back when Wonder con was up here in San Francisco I remember there was a guy dressed in a really good Xenomorph costume. I do give him props but the problem was if you were walking pretty close behind him (Like I was) there was someone asking for a picture every few steps... which clogged up the part of the dealers room I was walking in... So I do get that part of it...
But on the other hand, in my opinion there is only one type of person who can walk thorough the pictures on purpose (of course there will always be people doing it on accident) and those are in-character cosplayers of very goofy characters that you can see them ruining the picture for goofy reasons... like say a Deadpool or a Pinkie Pie interrupting a picture of two people in fighting poses trying to get them to stop... Or doing something like a photobomb... that sort of thing... So basically yeah... I'm kind of on both sides of this argument. |

Yeah, when you just wanted to take that perfect picture of someone's cosplay, but others go in the way...it happens, lol.

I think it's important to take into consideration the full situation here. A big, bulky costume is causing a swarm of people who want to take photos in what is implied to be a busy, tight area on opening day of a con. It's just not an appropriate place for a photo shoot. Wait for the guy to be out in a large lobby-type area later during the event. The shoot needed to be broken up. |

Had the giant EVA cosplayer moved to a larger, less-crowded area, the photographer might have had a bit of a simpler time getting a more desirable photo of him.

Admittedly, yeah I think Luna was right that the photoshoot was being disruptive, BUT I think this is the point where I can just safely say I don't like her character. I like the other three leads just fine, but I just find her general attitude irritating. I can enjoy the "cynical" character sometimes but this one just isn't clicking for me. I'd rather read about Maybell's upbeat attitude or the guys' over-the-top fun-loving antics than Luna gripping about everything.
Keep in mind this statement is only being said IF that photographer fell to the floor out of surprise or something. If Luna actually pushed him*, then she is no longer in the right and hey, maybe he should call the cops. Probably nothing would be accomplished, but physical assault is what it is. *I really can't tell which, I would assume he fell out of surprise, but then Luna's right hand position is questionable. |

I do wonder if conventions have ever issued guidance on how to handle this issue. There are good intuitions on both sides: attendees shouldn't have their paths needlessly obstructed, but cosplayers deserve a chance to exhibit within reason. Perhaps some principle could be introduced to promote the avoidance of passageways and other thoroughfares for photoshoots, with a complementary right to an unobstructed shot being assumed of photographers who comply.

Sure, but how about a "Excuse me, you're blocking the way. Could you please move?" And if you have to move in front of some one's shot there's also "Sorry, I'll be out of your way in a sec!" Instead we have an example of a typical trapping some authors fall into. They attempt to show off how "strong" and "independent" their female characters are only for them to just come off as unpleasant. |

Agreed; the photographer was so focused on trying to get a shot he allowed his ego to get the best of him. If I were in their shoes, I would feel pretty miffed myself. |

Sequence is reminiscent of a UP 8444 celebratory steam train event when the railroad ran it's 1944 museum piece through the Blue Mountains of Oregon enroute from Cheyenne, WY to destination Spokane, WA in time for EXPO '74 Spokane World's Fair celebration.
My best friend was a railfan and he with several others of like ilk were photographing this special train as it wove through the Oregon countryside. At every photo line an certain individual decked out in Big Mac engineer denims that no one knew would appear in everyone's shot right at the critical moment. This happened a few more times at later locations: same photo lineup of railfans careful not to intrude in each other's shots (motor drives could knock out 5 fps), same non-camera toting denim male individual no one knew appearing at the last possible moment in everyone's shots. Finally, at the 7th set up one railfan had enough, walked over to the denim individual and made an in your face verbal threat promising a sound thrashing if the proverbial line drawn in the sand was crossed this time. The violator vented back he had as much right as anyone to stand wherever he wished and there wasn't a damn thing anyone could do to prevent it. This time the interloper went over to his chosen spot right in front of every photobug's line of view. In the background everyone could hear the steamer working it's way up the grade, train in tow. All it took was 1 roundhouse punch square in the face. On impact the violator fell down a small hill. Everyone but the assertive railfan got their shots free of the man dressed in denim gear. From that location forward this interloper was never seen again at the railfan set up locations for this train. I used to go to events. Initially, they were fun but over time tolerating everyone's foibles got to be more strain than joy and I stopped. Thanks, internet, for your dedication allowing me to still enjoy hobbies as a ghost without the downfalls inherent in active participation. |

Nah, I walk through pictures being taken in packed dealer halls all the time. I hate people who take pictures in the dealer hall when it's completely packed and all people really should be doing is using the walkways to get from Point A to B. It's discourteous AF, and my response is that one rude action deserves another. You wanna take pictures? Go outside or to the cosplay areas that cons like AX set-up. Still don't think this comic is funny, though. Maybe it's not supposed to be. If that's the case, then, please continue. |

But all you've achieved is increasing the number of douches in the situation. Initially Luna had the right idea by saying "this boy deserves not one more second of your attention" but then she goes out of her way to purposely spite him. Take your own advice, jeeze. |
