If Nazuna Amemiya is indeed who she appears to be, this is a huge power move for Vshojo Japan. They're not messing around.

Is it really a smart idea to hire someone who was fired for breaking contract and leaking company secrets and then slandered her peers on the way out the door in an attempt to take them down with her, though? Usually that kind of behavior prevents you from finding more work.

You'r misinformed. I not linking it here but the information is all. The slander of her peers never happened.

While I do assume that the firing was justified or at least understandable from what is known and it kinda had to be, considering how profitable and well-connected within the comopany she was, it wasn't nearly as bad as you describe it here.
Plus, what happened wasn't malicious but a result of stress caused by the rabid fanbases of both her and especially that other involved party. And she is still on good terms with said peers.

I think she'll be fine in VShojo and hopefully she will also move away from content that attracts some of the absolute worst of online-fans.

There's a lot of misinformation and slander that gets thrown at the VShojo girls, and it's totally not fair.

On that note: I'm happy for Nazuna and Kson, and it suddenly makes sense why Vshojo put so much money into those big billboards at Akihabara promoting their talent and their freedom. This is a great opportunity for them both, and I'm happy for them.

I see that Sabaki and Korekore are still clouding folk's minds to this day.

Nazuna may want to do other content and stay away from Genshin and ASMR, especially the former, it's way too toxic nowadays.

Vtubers in general seem to attract a toxic fanbase so there's no real chance at avoiding that. People still give M*N* a hard time, and apparently a bunch of Chinese fans and clippers for VShoujo have put out a boycott upon hearing Kson is joining them. There's no escaping the toxicity.

Now, at the risk of being toxic myself, I'll say that a move like this comes off as VShoujo trying to scoop up Hololive's outcasts and alumni which might not be the best look for them and a reputation they necessarily want. I don't know much about VShoujo aside from some drama I've heard over the past few years, but I wonder if they'll truly find success in Japan given how different they operate and their sensibilities are.

I don't think that's much of a problem. Both of them still have good relationship with their former company and the other members.
Nazuna got into some hot waters ofc, but she still is looked at mostly fondly. It's not like VShojo is scooping up Hitomi Chris, former HoloCN members or some of the more infamously drama-prone Nijisanji-alumni.

Actors and athletes get released and scouted by competing agencies all the time. Really this is no different. Both Kson and Rushia (if that's who it really is) have an established fanbase. Vshoujo would be crazy not to try recruiting them.

That is a decent comparison. With pro sports, it's pretty common for people to dislike players from another team, and then welcome them with open arms when they end up playing for "their" team. I think that is some of what we're seeing here, at least for those that are acting like kson still owes anything to Hololive. Heck, the reveal video seemed to acknowledge she had good times with Hololive and wishes them well, but it's time for her to move onward with her career.

I don't think it's anything too complicated. Coco and Kson are two completely different characters. You can be a fan of one and not the other. I'm not sure Kson is even a character since she streams IRL and seems more like a typical Twitch streamer. Never could get into her like I could Coco though, so I'm not really too familiar with her content.
