As nice as it would have been for Inu-Oh to win, Pinnochio is a solid choice for best animated feature that I'm satisfied with and del Toro is an amazing director with a real respect for animation as a medium. At least they didn't go with a predictable choice like a Disney movie and I have to give them credit for even nominating Inu-Oh when most years award shows just ignore anime all together.

As much as Inu-Oh has done well, Pinocchio truly deserves it.

Pinocchio was a phenomenal movie, it absolutely deserves to win. I do need to watch Inu-Oh though.

I really enjoyed Pinocchio, both from a narrative and visual perspective, so I'm happy it won.

Del Toro made the much better movie so good for him. The Golden Globes are a travesty though. Look up why Brendan Fraser didn´t go despite being nominated. And the other 1001 reasons why these awards are the biggest joke in Hollywood.

Are awards that important?

There is a notable boost of attention for the winners, not to mention the ability to laud ones work as quality and award winning.

Beat: It definitely would just be another Yuasa film without the Globe.
Anyway, for those who wanted the anime to win, looks like the event wasn't a ratings hit. https://deadline.com/2023/01/2023-golden-globes-ratings-lowest-ever-nbc-1235217640/

The ratings for all award shows are in the toilet. The only thing people ever talk about from them anymore are the things like the Will Smith slap or Bill Clinton kid.
