Is there anything Disney doesn’t have their claws in at this point?

People rarely learn how dubious Disney politics (like basically any big conglomerate) since basically forever - they only care from where the whiff of the money go, while only presenting the good facade of supporting the "current thing" only to throw it next second once it's not in trending anymore, and they start to have even the smallest leaks in their financial statements, while they obviously are hands deep in pockets for sponsorship from the wealthy friends of Mr. Orange Man.

Are you referring to ABC suspending JImmy Kimmel after he incorrectly identifying the Charlie Kirk assassin as "MAGA"? I feel like suspending someone for willingly spreading political misinformation isn't a big deal. There's been a lot of political misinformation going on recently since then so companies are probably on edge and cracking down to not spread false information. He's not the first person who got in trouble for spreading false statements about the incident.

I think it's the principle of the manner, if the Mouse House is seen as being complicit in aiding 4547's many crimes then they deserve to be hit in the wallet.

Sure is nice that you're supporting government-coerced censorship of public speech.

He didn’t incorrectly identify the shooter as MAGA his point was Republicans and Conservatives are often loud about the sexuality, political affiliations, race, or religion of someone involved in something like a mass shooting or if you recall accidents.
When it’s a white person, who professes white supremacist or legitimately anti Semitic views, Catholic or Christian, who may even vote Republican they get awfully quiet.
The fact that the DOJ got rid of a study just this week showing most mass shootings in this country are committed by people with far right views should further illustrate how the Jimmy Kimmel thing is bullshit but as we’ve seen with Republicans & Trump why be truthful when you can lie or cover up the truth because it’s inconvenient for the narrative you’re trying to craft.

It is when Republicans spent the last decade and a half whining about their supporters having their free speech stifled ignoring the fact that making racist, sexist, or religiously offensive comments doesn’t stop private or public companies from firing you for making such statements. Now engaging in the same behavior while lionizing a dead man who in life engaged in the above behavior with zero irony.

Political misinformation has been around for centuries this problem didn’t just start within the last five years. Let’s also be clear that the guy and his cronies leading the charge against people like Jimmy Kimmel and others is the same guy that still wants people to believe he won the 2020 Election, that all the people who rioted at the capital on January 6 were either peaceful protestors or exclusively far left radicals, and that his 2016 election bid would fail because of “rigging”.
All examples of political misinformation but hey we’ll ignore that because the guy and party with reputations for habitually lying can’t possibly lie huh?

[reads article]
[slowly lowers head to desk and groans]
There's nothing the Mouse won't taint, apparently.

The Mouse House was recently tainted by 4547 so think of it as a stinky orange cancer that they were infected with. Best way to treat it is to cut off the Mouse House's access to your money entirely.

I haven’t read anything on webtoon since Noblesse was being serialized, and I don’t hate Disney per se, but somehow I don’t really like these news. 2% is a minimal stake, but still.

The article isn't about Trump or Kimmel. Please return to the topic.

Regardless of everything, I think they're five years late.
This move might have meant something if they did it back then instead of doing that Marvel Unlimited thing. But by now, they've lost way too much goodwill.

Indeed, biting the hand that feeds you (excluding current political climate) leads to not even getting breadcrumbs. Customers vote with their wallets if they've been treated like rubbish, and lately the Mouse House has been alienating a number of customers with the poor decisions they've been making as of recent. I honestly wouldn't trust the Mouse House's venture with WEBTOON as they're bound to foul it up in some manner, the executives are hopelessly out of touch with the current market.

It's a shame "Disney" now means a ton of things under the sun from Marvel to Star Wars now because I will always only use Disney to describe Mickey Mouse and friends and their original product not the many things they've absorbed in the past few decades. I have zero interest in modern Marvel or Star Wars so any product about those I don't care about.
Original works have a possibility of being interesting but I have little faith in their modern writers. At least the films have all looked terrible. There's some new comics from Dynamite Studios about classic Disney Afternoon shows like DuckTales and Darkwing Duck but I haven't checked them out yet. Quite frankly I'm afraid to. But for stuff that might appeal to the WEBTOON crowd... I don't know. Some Disney Princess series? Maybe a Hannah Montana reboot to try to copy K-Pop Demon Hunters? Kingdom Hearts?
But it might just be a dumping ground for their older stuff. Hopefully they add the Carl Barks Scrooge McDuck comics but there's honestly better ways to read those than in webtoon format.
