yeah, Moribito's awesome. Best tv-show Production I.G ever made. correct me if i'm wrong.
Gintama stays funny for about 100 episodes (which is a lot of episodes) but the highlights are the more serious story arcs. they don't take it to serious there's still some humor in them (like Elizabeth dressed as Katsura) but it focuses more on action and there's usually an interesting villian that the story focuses on. I've watched Gintama all the way through and it was always funny/awesome outside of a few stinkers. I'd recommend it to anyone

Yes, yes, you hate everything. We know. I liked A,A' a lot and I was lucky enough to find a really nice copy for just €3 earlier this year  But, having a copy that isn't perfect isn't too bad. For instance, I kind of like it when people write their books. I've got some used books, all atleast over 30 years old, with lists of names of former owners. Sure, the books look like crap, but it's fun imagining how far those books traveled before they became mine.

I'm curious. In what ways does Moriboto surpass Mononoke Hime? Granted, Moriboto has more room to succeed as a television series, meaning more time, but a shorter format of a film allows greater attention to detail. |

Well I guess one could say that Rental Magica has only "one flaw" if one chooses to ignore that fact that what makes it "forgettable" is a multitude of problems that conspire together to label it so. Cookie-cutter character archetypes is one, another is their entirely predictable interactions. And since tvtropes.com got mentioned, yes they do have a page for the series. I would simply put Rental as Perishable.
Moribito, I'm sure I've commented on it before, so I'll simply give it a thumbs-up again. A must-have. |

To me, Moribito manages to express a lot of the same themes without feeling like an environmentalist guilt-trip. I also kind of dug Moribito's overall feelings of altruism, despite it being a "low-fantasy" series. I felt that Mononoke put a lot of emphasise on how humans are flawed and are pretty much constantly struggling to fight their inner demons. While Moribito just pretty much went up and said, "Yeah, humans are flawed, but they can still totally kick ass. At the end of the day, humans are really, really awesome". But that's just what took from them |

Still need to get that extra box for Moribito since I can't loan the series out while in the stack pack form, hopefully I'll have more room on my next TRSI order to toss it in. And, hopefully not too nitpicky, I think you need to change this line a little:
Considering it's his father who is pursuing them through the whole story I think it should be "while his mother fakes his death," otherise it might be a bit confusing. And I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Shiki, noitaminA shows always need more attention and this is a great week to catch up on Shiki since it's on a three week hiatus (only two weeks left!). |

I don't see what's wrong with Ayame in Gintama, she really doesn't get fanservice-y (unless a standard nurse outfit counts
), and it's not like there aren't a decent amount of moments that "pander" to the female audience. Overall, it shouldn't matter, the amount of fan "disservice" for both sides seems to outweigh it all. Anyway, I have the first set, and will get around to ordering set 2 and 3 eventually.
From Media Blasters sale this past week, I ordered all 8 volumes with the artbox (the solid one, not the cheap paper one), a show this good deserves a nice set. I also ordered a LOT from the weekly specials. Rental Magica is on my list, but somewhat lower. |

It helps to go in knowing that the first novel lacks a lot of the depth of the anime, over and above the usual liberties taken with a source. I found the anime infinitely more satisfying on a narrative level, in no small part due to the reworking of certain characters. I'm glad to have the book on my shelf, because the first one must've sold enough for Arthur A. Levine to take a chance on the second installment, "Guardian of the Darkness". It takes up the story where the anime/first book ended, and I enthusiastically recommend it. Anyone with the anime under their belt could skip reading the first one altogether. Has anyone read the first book before seeing the anime? My appreciation of the book was diminished by the inevitable comparisons, and I'd be very interested in an evaluation from someone who opened the book "unspoiled". |

i love sacchan... and it's been a while since i saw eps 14-26, i don't remember her being all boob-jiggly fanservice-y. Granted, she tries too hard to be the M to gintoki's S, but i never see it as that being her purpose. like everyone else, she's there for the 'lols'.
But the series gets stronger as it goes and i don't recommend starting randomly half thru the series - you miss the whole takasugi arc that is one of the best that i've seen so far (i'm in the 140s) and a mess of recurring characters. still funny, yes, but loses a bit of it's strength. |
