Around the first 20 episodes are newly drawn episodes which feature the exact same storlyline of the old "Shin" series. Later episodes present a new storyline featuring Tsubasa in his teen.
This series is based on the Manga series "CT World Youth", even though the Anime-version is incomplete.
The Game Cube's Captain Tsubasa game features the events of the Captain Tsubasa J anime plus the ones that were not animated from the manga. However, with the seiyuu of Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002.
