posted on by Kim Morrissy
7th short highlighting athletes in the Paralympic Games is scheduled to air in late June.

Japan's national broadcaster NHK revealed on Friday that the seventh part in its "Anime x Para: Who is Your Hero?" animated project will be a collaboration with Wataru Watanabe's cycling-themed manga series Yowamushi Pedal. The theme of the short will be para-cycling.

The NHK opened a website for the collaboration on Saturday, which revealed a key visual for the short and states that the animation is currently in production. It is scheduled to air in late June.

"Anime x Para: Who is Your Hero?" is an animated series aiming to increase interest in parasports ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Previous shorts in the series collaborated with Captain Tsubasa for blind soccer, Baby Steps for wheelchair tennis, and renowned Ashita no Joe artist Tetsuya Chiba for wheelchair rugby, among others.

Wataru Watanabe launched the original Yowamushi Pedal manga in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in 2008. The first season of the television anime premiered in 2013. The second season premiered in Japan in 2014 and ended in March 2015. Yowamushi Pedal New Generation, the series' third season, premiered in January 2017. Yowamushi Pedal Glory Line, the fourth season, premiered in January 2018.
