Naruto ranks at #3; One Piece, Black Butler in top 20

The fifth volume of Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon manga ranked #2 in Nielsen BookScan's list of top 20 graphic novels in American bookstores for May. DK Publishing's The Avengers: The Ultimate Guide to the Earth's Mightiest Heroes hardcover book took the #1 spot in May.

The 56th volume of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto manga ranked at #3. The other two manga volumes in the top 20 are the 62nd volume of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece (#13) and the ninth volume of Yana Toboso's Black Butler (#16). The same volume of Black Butler had ranked at #14 in April.

The fourth volume of Sailor Moon also ranked at #2 in March and fell to #18 in April. The 55th volume of Naruto ranked at #3 in March and fell to #10 in April. The 61st volume of One Piece ranked at #14 in March.

The BookScan rankings represent sales at Barnes & Noble and other book chains, independent bookshops, and online purchases — but not sales at comic book stores, Walmart, and some other venues.
