posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The official website for the Aikatsu! idol school television anime announced on Saturday that a second series will premiere on October 3. The website began streaming a television commercial that features the new characters Seira Otoshiro, as well the accompanying new Data Carddas game card lineup.
The anime will once again feature Starlight Academy, which is facing a predicament thanks to the rise of the new rival idol training school, Dream Academy.
The Dream Academy's "cool beauty" Seira Otoshiro (voiced by Kaori Ishihara) is a major new idol with talent in rock music and perfect pitch, while Kii Saekusa (Chuna) is a genius who enrolls in the academy's producer course. The two academies face off for the honor of training the top idol.
In addition to the new Dream Academy students, the new anime series will feature the return of the current main cast:
- Sumire Morohoshi as Ichigo Hoshimiya
- Azusa Tadokoro as Aoi Kiriya
- Ayaka Ōhashi as Ran Shibuki
Ryuichi Kimura is returning to direct at the anime studio Sunrise. The anime' idol unit STAR☆ANIS is once again performing the new opening theme song "KIRA☆Power" and the new ending theme song "Original Star☆Me."
Bandai announced the orginal idol-themed card game and its anime adaptation last July. Sunrise is producing the first television anime, which premiered in Japan last October on TV Tokyo. The story revolves around Ichigo, who was just a normal middle school student until she suddenly got involved in the world of idols.
