Mr. Children Makes Live-Action Nobunaga Concerto Show's Theme Song
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Fuji TV's website for the live-action television series adaptation of Ayumi Ishii's historical manga Nobunaga Concerto announced on Friday that Mr. Children will perform the theme song. The band's vocalist Kazutoshi Sakurai is writing the song, and the title and other details have yet to be announced.
The series will premiere as part of Fuji TV's 55th anniversary project on October 13. Shun Oguri (Lupin III, Captain Harlock, Detective Conan, Hana Yori Dango, Space Brothers) will play the title warlord in the October live-action series and then the film. Oguri is not only playing Oda Nobunaga in the live-action versions, but also his modern counterpart Saburō.
The story centers around Saburō, a high school boy who time-travels to Japan's Sengoku Era. He must become Oda Nobunaga, the famed warlord who helps unite Japan.
Shogakukan's Gessan (Monthly Shonen Sunday) magazine announced in May that Ishii's manga is inspiring a television anime, a live-action television series, and a live-action film. Yūki Kaji (Nobunaga The Fool, Blue Exorcist, Black Butler) stars as Oda Nobunaga in the anime. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs in Japan.
Ishii launched the manga in the inaugural issue of Gessan in 2009, and Shogakukan will release the 11th compiled volume on Friday. The manga ranked #10 in the Male Readers category of the "Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" list by Takarajimasha Inc. in 2012. The manga was nominated for the fifth Manga Taisho awards in 2012, and it won the Boys' Category of the 57th Shogakukan Manga Awards later that year.
