New Gintama Anime's Extended Promo Streamed

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Yorozuya returns for more antics in anime premiering April 8

An extended promotional video for the upcoming Gintama series premiered this past weekend. The video features the show's opening theme "Day x Day" by Blue Encount.

Kagura: Gintama anime!
Shinpachi: It's a bit embarrassing...
Gintoki: But we're back!
Kagura: Even though we did a conclusion movie in the theater!
Shinpachi: Quite shamelessly
Gintoki: We've returned!
Kagura: All you good kids out there saying, "But I don't remember what Gintama is!
Shinpachi: There is nothing to worry about!
Gintoki: Because we're going to start by forgetting that this and that kind of thing ever happened in the past.
Everyone: We're in your hands again!
Gintoki: New program, Gintama, starting energetically on Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m.!

hueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed the show's April 8 premiere date last February, as well as revealing that Blue Encount will perform the show's opening theme "Day x Day," and Negoto will perform the show's ending theme "Destiny."

Hideaki Sorachi's original Gintama action comedy manga inspired a television anime that premiered in 2006 and continued (with several extended hiatuses) until 2013. It also inspired two movies, including the "final" Gekijōban Gintama Kanketsu-hen: Yorozuya yo Eien Nare film that opened in 2013.

Last year's Jump Special Anime Festa event tour debuted a one-episode Gintama special in November. That special is shipping on a DVD with the 58th manga volume on April 3, 2015.
