Gang King Manga Moves to Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in March

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga resumed last January after 2-year hiatus

The February issue of Kodansha's Magazine Special, the magazine's last issue, revealed on Friday that Daiju Yanauchi's Gang King manga will move to Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine beginning on March 9. The manga's 29th compiled book volume will also ship on the same day.

The manga will begin its Justice arc, where it will head towards its "decisive final battle."

The manga's story centers around Jimmy, a young high school student who aims to be the world's best tattoo artist. Yanauchi launched the manga in Young King in 2003, and Kodansha published the 28th compiled book volume last August. The manga had entered a hiatus in October 2013, but resumed last January, moving from Shonengahosha's Young King magazine to Magazine Special. The manga has over 10 million copies in print.

Kodansha also published new editions of the compiled book volumes, starting with the first to third volumes in December 2015, and continuing with three volumes every month until it reached the 27th volume.

A live-action film adaptation of Yanauchi's Gaki Rock manga opened in Japan in June 2014.
