NHK announced on Thursday that it is producing a live-action series adaptation of Bakka Okita's Tōmei na Yurikago (The Invisible Cradle) manga. The series will premiere on NHK on July 20 at 10:00 p.m., and it will have 10 episodes.
The March issue of Kodansha's Hatsu Kiss magazine previously hinted that the manga will have an important announcement in the next issue on Friday.
The series' cast includes:

Kōji Seto as Yui, the head doctor at the clinic where Aoi works
Asami Mizukawa as Sayako, a nurse who is senior to Aoi
Mieko Harada as Sakaki, the head nurse
Wakana Sakai as Fumika, Aoi's mother
Takeshi Shibata, Naoki Murahashi, and Haruka Kashima are directing the series. Naoko Adachi is penning the script. Yasuaki Shimizu is composing the music.
The manga centers on nursing student Bakka who begins her residency at an obstetrics and gynecology clinic on her mother's recommendation. The manga's stories are based on Okita's experiences working as a nurse at a similar clinic.
Okita launched the manga in December 2013 in Kodansha's Kiss Plus magazine, where it ran until the magazine ceased publication in February 2014. The manga continued in Kiss Plus' successor magazine Hatsu Kiss in June of that year. Kodansha published the manga's sixth compiled book volume in December.
The 2017 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook ranked the manga at #6. The manga also ranked at #11 on Honya Club's "Zenkoku Shotenin ga Eranda Osusume Comic 2017" (Nationwide Bookstore Employees' Recommended Comics of 2017) poll in 2017.
