Series has been restored/remastered

HIDIVE confirmed on Friday that it stream the Aura Battler Dunbine anime in restored and remastered HD. New episodes will launch with both English and Japanese audio on Mondays beginning on April 23.

Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it has the license and plans to release it on home video.

Sentai Filmworks describes the 49-episode series:

Transported from his home in Tokyo, a seemingly ordinary 18-year-old Shou Zama finds himself in a new world known as Byston Well, a country that has been torn apart by overlord Drake Luft. Refusing to participate in Luft's evil plans, Shou joins the resistance where he uses his incredible Aura Powers to fight for freedom inside a lavender-colored mecha.

Sunrise's 1983 series is an alternate retelling of Mobile Suit Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino's first The Wings of Rean novel from the same year. It was followed by a three-episode OVA series titled Aura Battle Dunbine: The Tale of Neo Byston Well. The novel series would go on to inspire Garzey's Wing in 1996 and The Wings of Rean in 2005.

ADV Films previously released the series in North America. The show streamed briefly along with other Sunrise shows on the Daisuki streaming service last year.
