Original manga creator Eiichiro Oda designed Ann, a singer who can create illusions, for the "One Piece Live Attraction 3 Phantom" attraction at the Tokyo One Piece Tower indoor theme park in 2017.

Oda designed the new film-original characters Douglas Bullet and Buena Festa, pictured below. Douglas Bullet is a former member of Roger's pirate crew, while Buena Festa is a promoter for the "Pirate's World Fair," a festival by pirates and for pirates. The voice actor for Douglas has yet to be revealed.

The film will open in theaters in Japan on August 9, in celebration of the anime's 20th anniversary.

The latest anime film in the One Piece franchise, One Piece Film Gold, opened in Japan in July 2016. Funimation screened the film in theaters in the United States with an English dub in January 2017. The company then released the film on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in May 2017.

A One Piece film opened every year in Japan between 2000-2009. The 30-minute One Piece 3D: Mugiwara Chase film opened in March 2011, and the One Piece Film Z movie opened in December 2012.
