Crunchyroll Expo Hosts World Premiere of Blackfox Anime Film

Crunchyroll streams English-subbed trailer, 7-minute preview

Crunchyroll announced on Friday that this year's Crunchyroll Expo convention will host the world premiere of Studio 3Hz's original theatrical anime project Blackfox. The company will also stream Blackfox, a Crunchyroll co-production, in all territories except Asia, France, Germany, Italy, and Russia.

Crunchyroll began streaming a trailer with English subtitles for the film. The video debuted in Japanese in March.

The Crunchyroll Expo screening will show a special clip to attendees after the film premiere.

The film opens in Japan on October 5.

Kazuya Nomura (Robotics;Notes, Joker Game, Ghost In The Shell: The New Movie) is the chief director of the anime at Studio 3Hz (Princess Principal, Flip Flappers, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online), and Keisuke Shinohara (episode director for Little Witch Academia, DEVILMAN crybaby, Kiznaiver) is directing the anime. Naoki Hayashi (Citrus, Flip Flappers) is the scriptwriter. Atsushi Saito (High School Fleet sub-character design) is the character designer. Fumihiro Katagai (Princess Principal, Chaika the Coffin Princess) is the mechanical designer, Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music, and Kenji Andou (Votoms Finder, Tiger & Bunny) is credited as the Animaldrawn designer. Infinite is producing the work. fripSide are performing the theme song "BLACKFOX."

The anime is also receiving a live-action tokusatsu period drama tie-in this fall. The drama is set in the past (as opposed to the near-future setting of the anime).

Crunchyroll Expo will be held at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in California from August 30 to September 1.
