SaikouCon Extends Pre-Registration Period for 2015

SaikouCon Extends Pre-Registration Period for 2015

SaikouCon 2015 Also Introducing Dubsmash Battle Royale Event

8/14/15 Bethlehem, PA – SaikouCon, which means "best convention”, is the Lehigh Valley's first and only large scale, annual anime convention. Boasting a dedicated staff of longtime Japanese anime and manga fans, SaikouCon is excited to be the only annual convention dedicated exclusively to anime, manga, and Japanese culture and pop culture in this area of Northeast Pennsylvania. The convention grew out of the now defunct, but soon to be relaunched, webzine Anime Ate My Brain Magazine; the sibling webzine to Tastes Like Rock! Music Magazine. Both journalistic endeavors fall under the newly renamed Nerdy Rock 'n Roller Publishing, which will be growing in diversity in 2015.

The convention promises to remain very hands on and attendee friendly every year, while also maintaining a safe atmosphere for attendees to enjoy the convention to their carefree fullest. As always, Cosplay =/= Consent is a very important issue to the staff of SaikouCon, and the same rules and regulations that made SaikouCon 2013 and 2014 a safe haven for cosplayers will be enforced just as strictly at SaikouCon 2015. SaikouCon 2015 will feature many diverse and entertaining panels, workshops, activities, events, screenings, gaming tournaments, and much more!

SaikouCon Chairman made this announcement earlier today, August 14, 2015 via the conventions website and social media account: “Once again we've had a lot of requests to extend the pre-registration period, so we're extending to August 20. Pre-reg will close for 2015 at 12 AM, August 20 (the 12 AM leading into August 21, remember it's not a new day until 12:01 AM... *shooting star* The More You Know! Seriously though, this is the one and only extension we're doing on pre-reg this year, so get your pre-reg badges while you can at www.saikoucon.com/guest-registration.html
This extension is only for Basic (General Admission) Attendance Packages (Badges) only, the convention closed high level badges earlier in the year and will not be reopening them this close to the 2015 show.

The convention will also be launching their first Dubsmash Battle Royale. The popular multimedia app was brought to infamy earlier this year at San Diego Comic Con by the casts of Marvel and ABC's shows Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And Agent Carter as stars Clark Gregg and Chloe Bennet of S.H.I.E.L.D. And Hayley Atwell and James D'Arcy of Agent Carter had a Dubsmash war over the course of the West Coast convention. This battle inspired SaikouCon Chairman, Michael Meade to launch this freeflowing contest/event over the duration of SaikouCon 2015, even thanking the Marvel stars for the inspiration on the convention social profiles. Following is the conventions announcement of the Battle Royale, how it will be conducted and what the winner receives:
“Over the course of SaikouCon 2015 everyone that has the Dubsmash app do a Dubsmash and post it on Instagram (or here on Facebook, you can post them here right? I've seen Dubsmash videos on here at least) and tag the videos with #‎SaikouDubBattle‬. After SaikouCon 2015 concludes we'll pick one video that we find the most creative/funny/goofy etc. and the person that posted that Dubsmash will win a pair of 3 Day Badges to SaikouCon 2016.
The Dubsmash can have any sound from Dubsmashs library of quotes/music, it doesn't have to be anime related, but it must be filmed in the Best Western or on the property of the hotel, so it is clearly connected to SaikouCon, to be considered. Bonus points if you have something that says "SaikouCon 2015" in the video. Start planning your smashs!”

To Pre-Register as a guest of SaikouCon 2015 visit www.saikoucon.com/guest-registration.html and make sure to note the new designations for Teen and Adult badges to attend the convention, the new designations do away with the need for parental consent forms for SaikouCon guests age 13-17, attendees 12 and under still need to be accompanied by a chaperone age 18 or older at all times, while family friendly, SaikouCon is largely PG-13 so tweens and little ones need accompaniment. To book a room for SaikouCon Weekend 2015, call the Best Western Lehigh Valley Hotel Conference Center, SaikouCon's new home located at 300 Gateway Drive, Bethlehem PA 18017, at 1-888-222-8512 or 1-610-866-5800, the discounted room block is now closed but the hotel may still have room for guests at their normal rates.

The convention will always feature some of the best live entertainment themed to Japanese culture and pop culture, as well as the best in J-Rock, J-Pop, and nerd/geek culture musical acts from all over the US and beyond.
